A DPS cable of a dielectric type is used to organize trunk systems in places that are subject to increased requirements for resistance to mechanical stress. Such products can be laid in cable ducts (blocks, pipes, in the presence of a high level of requirements for mechanical stability), trenches, in soils of groups 1-3 using an automatic knife cable layer, in tunnels and overpasses. This type of dielectric wire cannot be used in soils subject to permafrost deformation. It is allowed to lay with the resistance of the optical wire to a tensile force of at least 20 kN. The DPS cable has an outer polyethylene sheath.

It has the following construction:
- The basis of such a wire is a power central element - a dielectric fiberglass rod.
- A fiber optic module in which optical elements are freely stacked in a PBT shell filled with a hydrophobic composition.
- Intermodular aggregate.
- Special fastening thread.
- Polymeric material as an intermediate shell.
- Armor protection made of galvanized steel wires.
- Special protective hose made of polymer materials.
- Copper insulated core, the cross section of which is 0.75 mm2.
In addition, a lightweight version can be produced: such a DPS cable does not have a power central element and contains only one optical module.
Features of ground cables
These products are widely used not only in Europe, but also in Russia, thanks to the special requirements for operation. For example, an optical DPS-type cable has a high value of the mechanical resistance parameter aimed at breaking. Due to this property, these wires can be used in various climatic zones. This is especially true for our vast country, in which sharp changes in temperature, and strong winds, rain, snow, and icing are not rare. In general, most of the regions of Russia are characterized by severe climatic conditions, this applies to areas with a harsh climate, and vice versa, with too moderate. The DPS cable has successfully established itself in the Far East and Siberia (in cities such as Irkutsk, Blagoveshchensk, Petropalovsk-Kamchatsky, Yakutsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Magadan and Vladivostok). The dielectric cable for creating computer networks and communications - for use in such weather conditions - must be of particularly high quality and meet the necessary requirements for reliability and practicality in operation. The mechanical stability of DPS type cables should also be high, which will help to avoid failure of communication lines and increase the service life of the entire system.

Conclusion
The modern technologies and materials used in the construction of the dielectric cables of this type are very expensive, all this affects the final price of such a product. However, it is incomparable with the costs and problems that network builders, who have incorrectly assessed the correctness of the choice of optical wire and have relied on a different, cheaper type, have to eliminate it instead of using a DPS cable.
