By faith and the intercession of saints, many diseases tormenting Christians are receding. Some saints of God have been given special mercy to ask for the sick. Among them is the great healer, who was born in Nicomedia, which today is under the rule of the Turks. In his youth, he witnessed the miracle of the revival of the dead through his prayer. This miracle helped him gain faith and be baptized. When he cured the blind man in the name of God, his own father, who was previously a pagan, also received baptism. Nowadays, prayer to St. Panteleimon is the first way to ask the Lord for help to a sick loved one.
Why near the decoration icon?
The appeal to the saint proclaims the belief that he is directly in front of God's throne. And his image exists near us, in the church, between the healer himself and his image as an icon, there is a close connection. Panteleimon himself is near the Glory of the Lord and enjoys it. He was given grace to perform miracles on Earth. In many monasteries near the icon of St. Panteleimon there are many gold jewelry. So the congregation thanks the great martyr for the relief of their illnesses. Often the disease completely disappears under the influence of the intercession of Panteleimon and the faith of the worshiper.
Righteous Unrestrained
But the saint does not need anything for himself; he always healed and did not charge for it. Panteleimon received a special healing power for his devotion to God and faith. But you must remember that for perfect miracles you need to thank the Lord, not the intercessors in his face. In gratitude, they usually order an akathist, called "Glory to God for everything." Saint Panteleimon is a healer; prayer invokes miracles into your life. He was more than just a doctor. He healed, not relying on his mind and knowledge, but requested the intervention of God's will. For purity and kindness, the Lord heard the prayers of the youth. Thus the saint turned many pagans to the Lord.
The beginning of healing is within
Prayer to Saint Panteleimon the healer does not describe the diseases for which healing is requested. This is not the price list of a medical center. First of all, the prayer asks for forgiveness of his own sins. And the help in the treatment of ailments is mentioned much later and only once. The worshiper calls his heart broken. This means that he recognizes the incorrectness of his life, understands the immorality of actions and apostasy from gospel principles. But “humble in spirit” means that he is ready to endure criticism, to admit his imperfection sincerely and completely. Prayer to St. Panteleimon implies a person's awareness of his moral shortcomings.
Why is so much emphasis placed on resolving sins? The fact is that the body and spirit are closely related. Not always a disease arises from sin, but more often it is that way. And when a person understands the degree of his guilt, there is a chance of healing. But the Lord will not heal everyone, but only for whose soul it will be useful. It is this thought that contains the prayer to St. Panteleimon near the end of it. That is, for some people, it is better to be sick to save the soul. This teaches them humility and helps to avoid serious sins. Of course, the desire to be strong and healthy is normal, but we must remember that God judges not only for actions, but also for attitude to his will.
