In 2003, BMW demonstrated the new generation of the fifth BMW series. The updated body was called the BMW 530 E60, becoming one of the main competitors of the Mercedes E-class W211 released a year earlier. E60 was not only distinguished by a new exterior and an updated line of power units, but also by improved electronic equipment.

The fifth generation of BMW externally radically different from the models produced by the concern earlier. Dramatic changes in the exterior were not appreciated, but soon the opinion of the automotive world changed: the new look of the BMW 530 remains relevant until now.
The flowing lines of the body start at one point and diverge back throughout the car, emphasizing the dynamism and elegance of the sedan. The dimensions of the car have changed: the distance between the wheels has increased by 58 millimeters, the length of the body - by 66 millimeters.

530d Model
The top configurations of the BMW 530d are equipped with a 2993 cm 3 six-cylinder turbocharged engine. The power unit for the entire release of the model has repeatedly been restyled. The initial engine power was 218 horsepower, but subsequent modernization allowed to increase it to 286 horsepower. At the time of the release of the BMW 530 xDrive, the engine became the most powerful in the line of powertrains.
Acceleration to 100 km / h with the first version of the engine was carried out in 7.1 seconds, after restyling it was possible to reduce the time to 6 seconds. The maximum developed speed is 243 km / h.
The brake system is represented by front ventilated disc brakes and rear disc brakes. The average fuel consumption of a car is 8 liters.
All-wheel drive version 530ix
The four-door sedan was launched in 2005. A distinctive feature of this model was four-wheel drive. The car was equipped with a three-liter inline engine N52 with a capacity of 258 horsepower. Acceleration of the BMW 530ix to 100 km / h took place in 6.8 seconds. Fuel consumption in the urban cycle was 13 liters per 100 kilometers. In the combined cycle, gasoline consumption was almost halved, stopping at around 7.4 liters.

GT
The BMW 530 GT model is another car of the German concern, which has undergone repeated restyling of both the exterior and the technical component. In appearance, the first to change the air intakes, bumpers, optics and grille. Since the GT model itself is very different from other models of the fifth series, the adjustments made to its exterior have become unique and individual.
The main difference between the upgraded Gran Turismo was the boot volume increased by 60 liters, which was achieved due to a modified stern, which became slightly lower and longer. Visually, it is difficult to pay attention to such changes, however, when comparing the new and old versions of the BMW 530 GT, the difference immediately becomes noticeable.
German engineers, despite the restyling, retained the main feature of the GT - a double tailgate: access to it can be obtained only after the lower half of the lid is opened. If you lift the entire door, the process of loading large items and changing the layout of the compartment is greatly simplified. Since the rear row seats are made in proportions of 40:20:40 and each of their parts is freely adjustable and reclines, there are plenty of options for transforming the trunk of the BMW 530 GT. Such versatility is largely determined by the fact that the car model is a comfortable hatchback designed for travel. A high level of comfort GT, especially in comparison with other models of the fifth series, is achieved due to the changed suspension settings and a spacious interior.
Station wagon and GT fifth series are equipped with rear air suspension with the ability to adjust the level of the body. In motion, the 530 GT is smoother and more imposing than the other models in the series, which is especially noticeable when cornering, where there is practically no roll.
