An explanatory note to the project is considered one of the fundamental documents in the course or thesis. It is here that all the necessary information on the justification of the selected design is collected, its description, applications, technical specifications, all the necessary calculations are given.
In order to correctly and competently develop this document, it is necessary to deeply study special educational, regulatory and periodical literature. An explanatory note to the project should highlight all the main issues of the topic. This document should include an analysis of the literature, and the results of independent research or experiments, be sure to consider all the inherent features of the structure or part, a complex mathematical calculation of all the main nodes.
Any project, whether it is a studentβs thesis on the development of a new unit or machine part, the introduction of new equipment in production or design development, architectural design of a building or structure, must necessarily consist of two parts: design and explanatory. If the explanatory note to the architectural design, thesis or term paper is missing or incorrectly executed, then the graphic part will be considered only theoretical developments.
The textual part of the work should be made out in accordance with the applicable ESKD (Unified Design Documentation System ) standards and the requirements of the SPDS (Design Documentation System for Construction) standards for design documents. Sheets with text should have the appropriate form and title block, all (except the title) are numbered and filed in a special folder.
The explanatory note to the diploma project must have the following sections:
1. The title page with the name of the project theme.
2. The content of the work - indicated the relevant sections and subsections, a list of the attached drawings and diagrams.
3. Introduction, consisting of a review of the sources used, analytical and theoretical parts.
4. The economic part justifying the technical and economic indicators of the developed design.
5. Part with calculations for safety during the operation of the structure and labor protection.
6. The final part provides conclusions about the project, the significance and justification of the choice.
7. List of used literature and sources.
8. Applications (diagrams, tables and design drawings).
The explanatory note to the project should have a clear structure and a consistent line of presentation. Convincing arguments and accurate calculations, concise and clear formulations are the main requirements in the preparation of the text part.
An explanatory note to the project is carried out on A4 paper. The text can be written by hand in a clear and understandable handwriting or made using printing technology. When using office equipment, the text should have double spacing between lines.
