The final stage of training at a higher educational institution is the delivery of the final qualification work (diploma project). Within its framework, research is being carried out on a given topic, specific tasks are being addressed aimed at confirming the knowledge gained. The project consists of several parts: theoretical, analytical and practical. An important element is the report to the thesis, without which its protection is impossible. The quality and perception of the research done depend on the quality of this part.
The report for the
thesis is built according to the standard scheme, according to the generally accepted structure. It reflects the essence and main parts of the project. The speech to the thesis begins with an appeal to certifiers: “Dear chairman of the commission, dear members of the commission! Let me introduce my thesis on the topic ...! ” After such a greeting, the report is structured as follows:
- the relevance of the topic of the project or its scientific interest (for example, in the case of the provision of work on ancient history, which is not relevant, but interesting from a scientific point of view);
- object and subject of research ;
- purpose of the diploma;
- set tasks that must be disclosed to achieve the project goal;
- the structure of the work: what chapters it consists of, their number;
- methodological and information sources of research.
After all this information, they go directly to the content of each chapter. For this, it is necessary to tell what work was carried out in the first chapter (its name can also be indicated) and the conclusions drawn from its information. Next, the narrative of the subsequent parts of the graduation project is similar.
After retelling the main points outlined in the chapters, it is necessary to take stock. In this case, the report to the thesis can be formulated on the basis of the conclusion of the project or simply set out without changing. The final part should consist of answers to the previously indicated tasks, a general conclusion on the entire project, a conclusion on the achievement of the goal of the diploma. After this, it should be said about the promising direction of the topic of work, express your opinion on this matter. It should be noted that for clarity and better perception of the retelling of the content of the chapters of the diploma project, it is recommended to prepare the so-called handout - that is, drawings, tables, etc., illustrating data from the work. They should be printed in several copies and distributed to the members of the commission. Some degree projects require the development of drawings, any layouts, design objects. In this case, the handout is not needed.
Thus, the report to the thesis briefly outlines the goals, objectives of the project, their solution, the relevance of the topic in the modern world. A competent presentation contributes to a better perception, further assessment of the work done depends to a certain extent on this.
