Mouthwash: balm, elixir, powder

Teeth need to be cleaned in the most thorough way twice a day - this simple truth has been known to all of us since childhood, and many believe that this is where the care of the oral cavity, teeth and gums can safely end. But, of course, everything is not so simple, because the teeth are exposed to a variety of dangers every day - starting with a relatively harmless plaque, ending with a dangerous disease called caries and mechanical damage.

We can conclude that brushing your teeth alone is not enough if you do not use mouthwash in combination with toothpaste , which can strengthen tooth enamel, prevent damage and bleeding of the gums, and also have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, destroying bacteria and protecting vulnerable mucous membranes. Another plus of using such products - giving freshness to breathing - is an important advantage, however, it is not remembered too often, among the main ones citing the above properties. Nevertheless, an oral rinse is able to clean and rinse the tongue, the “contamination” of which is the cause of an unpleasant odor.

Today, many manufacturers offer us to purchase their own options and varieties of rinses, which are recommended for use with appropriate toothpaste. There are several types of such funds - balms, elixirs and dry powder preparations.

The former are the most common and popular, they are divided into anti-inflammatory (mostly with natural components) and anti-carious (containing fluorine and calcium ions). Among balms, Sensitive products are considered to be the best, such products as Colgate rinse, which qualitatively strengthen tooth enamel, improve mineralization, very often act, reducing the increased sensitivity of gums and enamels. When using such balms, it is worth remembering that they should be used after brushing your teeth, since only in this case can the calcium and fluorine elements contained in them be fixed and begin their useful work. In addition, the balm should be in contact with the surface of the teeth for two to three minutes, which is also necessary for the absorption of all necessary elements.

The second type of oral cleanser is elixirs for gums, which have anti-inflammatory effects. They are able to have a beneficial effect on the microflora of the mucous membranes and their blood supply, heal small wounds on the gums and disinfect them. Unlike balm, an elixir mouth rinse should be used before hygienic toothbrushing, as this tool makes plaque on tooth enamel soft, easy to remove with a brush. In most cases, the composition of elixirs includes natural components, plant phytoncides which strengthen the gums and make them healthier, able to withstand minor mechanical damage and bacteria. The maximum effect, according to experts, is provided by such a means as mouthwash “Forest Balsam”, but natural preparations “Spring-plus”, “Veterok” or “Lesnoy” are just as effective.

Dry powders intended for cleaning the oral cavity appeared on the Russian market relatively recently, but have already won their adherents. Before use, such products must be diluted in a small amount of boiled water immediately before use, and they have the greatest effect in the most advanced cases - if necessary, disinfection and healing of purulent diseases. Experts note that for the prevention of diseases, due to its concentration and the content of certain elements, this mouth rinse should not be used.
