What is the Hutchison effect and can it be repeated

John Hutchison is a Canadian inventor who tried to repeat many of Tesla’s experiments. In the process of studying longitudinal electromagnetic waves, the scientist accidentally made a shocking discovery, achieving a strange effect (which was later named after him). Unfortunately, the engineer could not successfully repeat his experiment, so the Hutchison effect was surrounded by all kinds of rumors and even associated with mysticism.

Physicists, ufologists and esotericists were simultaneously interested in this phenomenon. Scientists perceive the Hutchison effect itself not as one, but as several superimposed phenomena, as a result of which various objects under the influence of electromagnetic waves behaved quite unexpectedly. So, several large (and durable) pieces of metal were torn in such a way as if they were made of soft plastic. Heavy bulky objects were torn off the surface and lifted into the air, some pieces of metal were heated almost to the melting temperature (without an additional heat source), others were even fused with wood, which is difficult to explain from a scientific point of view.

Tesla was an outstanding person (many books were written about him, more than one film was shot), and his whole life, including experiments with electricity, was saturated with mysticism, secrets and magic. Hutchison very carefully studied the works of Tesla, tried with maximum accuracy to recreate the prototype of his laboratory and repeat the experiments.

The result of his work was several successful repetitions of the experiments of Tesla himself, but science did not remember his name for that. The Hutchison effect, which many physicists still can not comprehend and explain, turned out to be truly amazing. It is only known that strange phenomena occurred in the presence of several Tesla coils with a sufficiently high voltage, under the influence of electromagnetic forces. However, since the experiments of other scientists have not led to the desired result, there is an opinion about the interaction of electromagnetic fields with other forces and phenomena that have not yet been studied.

Many physicists generally have a rather skeptical view of this phenomenon; they consider the Hutchison effect a profanity and say that it is based not on scientific works, but on the replacement of concepts. In other words, this is not the result of a scientific experiment, but just a trick. This opinion is confirmed by several indisputable facts. Firstly, this is how the Hutchison effect was obtained. The design of the experiment as such was not made publicly available. Secondly, the process itself was described rather "on the fingers", in violation of the mass of generally accepted concepts and principles. And, thirdly, no one has been able to repeat the experiment to date.

The nature of damage to objects subjected to experiments is difficult to explain from the point of view of modern physics. The metal seemed to creep out spontaneously without the action of any external forces, and the tree was simply absorbed, as if sinking in a liquid. Maybe this experiment in the future will become the basis for stunning discoveries not only in electrodynamics, but also in other areas of physics?
