In Soviet times, oil refining was actively developing in the village and the Kstovo oil refining plant was built, as well as a thermal power station and other industrial facilities.

Residents of Kstovo are, first of all, representatives of such nationalities as Russians, Tatars and Mordovians. Residents of the city are usually called Kstovites, if female, then Kstovtsy, and if male, then Kstovtsy.

Jobs of the employment center

As of mid-2018, the city has job offers in various areas. Salaries are various. Minimum, but relatively frequent - 11 630 rubles. In most cases, salaries vary from 13 to 20-25 thousand rubles, but in some vacancies, wages are even higher. The upper limit is 50,000 rubles, but the lower price tag for this vacancy is 19,600 rubles, and it is precisely this salary that will most likely be paid. On other similar vacancies, a large amount is also indicated as the upper limit, and the lower one is very low.

Thus, the level of salaries in the city is average by Russian standards. But a large amount of simple work (a cook, a waiter, an auxiliary worker, a cleaner, etc.) is a plus, because it allows you to find a job for almost anyone.

All this indicates an acceptable situation on the local labor market and explains why the population has been growing slowly in recent years. It is also likely that migrants influence the population. This factor is quite significant for the regions of Central Russia, especially for the Moscow region. And Kstovo is not very far from Moscow.
