Glue 88 - specifications, scope and methods of application

The domestic chemical industry produces various types of adhesive solutions. Most of them have a fairly wide scope. Universal adhesive 88 is very popular among consumers. Due to its positive properties, it provides a reliable connection even to incompatible materials. What is glue 88? You can find out its purpose and technical characteristics by reading this article.

adhesive 88 specifications

Composition and purpose

Glue 88 is a solution of a mixture of rubber, ethyl acetate, nephros and phenol-formaldehyde resin. The liquid has a viscous uniform consistency of a gray-green or beige hue. Precipitation is allowed.
Such a bonding agent is intended:
β€’ rubber;
β€’ metal;
β€’ wood;
β€’ polymer and synthetic materials;
β€’ glass and ceramics;
β€’ natural and artificial leather;
β€’ cardboard.

Specifications

Glue 88 has many positive qualities. Among them:
β€’ heat resistance;
β€’ vibration resistance;
β€’ water tightness;
β€’ ability to provide instant fast setting.
The seam of glued products is plastic, not afraid of vibration, withstands temperatures from –30 to + 90ΒΊ. In addition, it is moisture resistant to fresh and salt water. The glue is not toxic. It firmly and reliably combines incompatible materials in various combinations.

The most popular types

There are several varieties of this product. Each type has its own characteristics and designation. Among the most frequently used, the following markings can be distinguished:
1. Glue 88 CA - designed for bonding fibrous and porous materials, as well as rubber and metal. Consumption per m 2 is 300 g.
2. 88 NP - used for bonding rubber with concrete, plastic, metal, wood and leather. It has improved moisture resistance. It is used in automobile and housing construction.
3. 88 M - used in the repair of automobiles, motorcycles. Its characteristics exceed the above modifications. It perfectly combines rubber with plastic, metal, concrete and other materials.
More detailed features of the application of each type of glue are reflected in the instructions attached to the product.

Glue application

Glue 88, the technical characteristics of which are quite high, can be used in mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, aviation, the shoe industry, and everyday life. In construction, it is used in gluing linoleum on a wooden or concrete base, repairing damaged tiles. Glue 88 is also used as a deep penetration primer. The characteristics of this product - versatility, reliability, ease of use - provide it with an advantage over other adhesive materials.
Before use, glue is recommended to mix well. In case of thickening, it must be diluted with ethyl acetate. There are cold and hot gluing methods.
1. In the cold method, two layers of the adhesive composition are applied to the previously cleaned and fat-free materials to be bonded with a brush, each dried for about 15–20 minutes. After this, the surface should be pressed together as tightly as possible for several minutes and left at a temperature of + 18ΒΊ C for a day for complete setting.
2. The hot joining method involves applying the product to the material to be bonded. The adhesive mixture should be dried for 20–25 minutes. Then the materials are heated to 90 Β° C, combined and left alone for at least 3 hours.
Since adhesive 88 contains solvents that are flammable, it should be protected from fire. All work associated with it must be carried out in ventilated areas and away from open flame.
