The year of foundation of a higher educational institution in Voronezh is considered to be the 1930th. However, the history of the institution actually began a little earlier. In 1918, a forest department was opened at the Agricultural Institute of Voronezh to train specialists in this field. After 5 years, it was transformed into a faculty, and in 1930 an independent forestry institute was organized on its basis.

1. Automotive. The university began to prepare mechanical engineers for work in the field of automobile transport in 1961. The students were responsible for the Faculty of Forestry and Mechanics. In 2011, it was transformed into an automotive division.
2. Forest. This faculty has its history since 1918. At that moment, training began for forestry. Today, the faculty is considered one of the oldest structural units in the university. Students learn how to cut and restore forests.
3. Timber industry. This faculty began to work in 2011. He appeared in the educational organization as a result of the merger of the Forest Engineering Faculty, created in 1954, and the Woodworking Faculty, formed in 1960. Today it is a modern structural unit that trains specialists for the woodworking and forestry industries.
4. Mechanical. The history of this structural unit started at the end of the 40s of the last century in connection with the beginning of the training of specialists for work in the field of agricultural mechanization. Some time after the foundation, it was called forest mechanical. A few years ago, the faculty was divided into 2 structural units. As a result, automobile and mechanical faculties appeared.

Faculty of Economics

Voronezh State Forestry Academy, which received the status of a university, still has a faculty of economics. Its history began in 1966, when a new educational profile was opened at the university - “Economics of Forestry and Forest Industry”. At first, the forestry faculty was engaged in training. Later, a specialized structural unit was opened.

The Faculty of Economics provides students with the opportunity to gain practical skills, because the university cooperates with a huge number of organizations and enterprises interested in training qualified specialists. Students are given places to undergo industrial and undergraduate practice. After graduation, students are offered places for further work.
