The drug is also indicated for infections of the ENT organs, oral cavity, and respiratory tract. This antibiotic is also used to treat diphtheria and scarlet fever. In what cases is the drug prescribed for pregnant women?
As a rule, doctors prescribe vilprafen during pregnancy if a woman detects a ureaplasma, chlamydia, mycoplasma infection, or in the inflammatory process in the genitourinary organs caused by several pathogens. You can use vilprafen during pregnancy already in the first trimester, or rather, from the tenth week. However, for the treatment of mycoplasma infections, the drug is recommended to be prescribed only from the second trimester. How to take vilprafen during pregnancy? The dosage is usually 0.5 g or 500 mg. three times per day. Tablets are recommended not to mix with food intake and drink plenty of water. The course of treatment for chlamydial infection is two weeks. For infections caused by ureaplasma and mycoplasma, about 10 days.



How safe is the drug during pregnancy?
In Russia, vilprafen is not prohibited during pregnancy. Nevertheless, when using it, it is always necessary to correlate the degree of possible risk to the fetus and the health of the mother with the expected benefits. Contraindications to prescribing the drug to pregnant women include: hypersensitivity to macrolides, severe renal dysfunction. If side effects of the antibiotic occur, its administration should be stopped. Side effects of vilprafen may be a lack of appetite, impaired liver function, cholestatic hepatitis, pseudomembranous colitis, diarrhea, abdominal pain, heartburn, vomiting and nausea. Perhaps a general malaise, manifestations of intestinal dysbiosis, hearing loss, candidiasis, an allergic rash in the form of urticaria.

Prescribe vilprafen during pregnancy, like any other antibiotic, should be with extreme caution. Some experts are of the opinion that it is better to use alternative antibacterial agents to treat pregnant women. In particular, azithromycin is also used in the treatment of chlamydial infections .
