Throttle Position Sensor: Feature, Operation

Throttle position sensor
The throttle position sensor (TPS) occupies a very important place in the system, which monitors the received dose of fuel. By its signal, the controller starts its work, which includes determining the position of the damper. By how high the rate of change of the signal is, monitoring the dynamics of pedal depression is carried out, and this is the main factor determining the necessary dose of fuel. In the mode in which the engine starts, the deflection angle of the damper is monitored. And if it is 75 percent or more open, a motor purge mode is activated. The signal that the throttle position sensor gives is the start signal. It was after him that the controller begins to control the RCC ( idle speed controller ). So the air is supplied to the engine.

It is worth noting that the throttle position sensor has another name. This is a mechanism of the so-called potentiometric type, which includes resistors (constant and variable). Their total resistance is approximately 8 kOhm.

VAZ throttle position sensor
A signal indicating the position of the shutter enters through the resistor to the controller. This signal has a value that is slightly less than 0.7 V. If the voltage is more than 4 V, then the control unit will consider that the damper is absolutely open. The throttle position sensor is usually mounted on its body and connected to the axis of rotation. The axis has a special groove, which is part of a cruciform nest. Actually, the TPS is fixed with two screws.

One cannot but mention the non-contact throttle position sensor . Its purpose is to generate a DC voltage, the data of which is proportional to the opening angle of this valve, as well as the fuel injection system into the engine. The rotation shaft is guided clockwise. This mechanism is fixed on a special branch pipe (throttle) of the fuel injection system. There, of course, everything is provided for the implementation of this installation. It should be noted that the resource of this product cannot be limited to automobile mileage.

Throttle Position Sensor

And another topic that I would like to touch on is the VAZ throttle position sensor. On older machines, as you know, the installed mechanisms require increased attention. And often DPSD becomes unusable. So, this mechanism is faulty if:

  1. There are problems at idle.
  2. The gear turns off - the car engine stalls.
  3. Jerks appear when speeding up.
  4. Idling speeds β€œfloat” in almost all modes in which the engine performs its work.

In order to make sure that the DPS is not working, it is necessary to check it, and to do this is quite simple. It is necessary to turn on the ignition, and then measure the voltage between the output of the slider and the "mass". If the voltmeter readings are 0.7 V or less, then everything is normal.
