Graffiti are images painted on walls or other surfaces using ink or paints. This art has come to us from antiquity. Then the drawings on the walls were applied with some sharp object, and then painted with chalk or charcoal. For the first time, masters began to write their name on clay pots to mark their own work. Today, graffiti paintings can be seen on the walls of houses or fences enclosing new buildings. Vivid pictures are always remembered, although they cause an ambiguous attitude to oneself. Let's try to master this unusual art by learning how to draw original graffiti letters on paper.
Materials
For work you need paper (preferably canvas), simple pencils, stencils, an eraser, colored pencils or felt-tip pens. You can use ink, as well as a special spray paint. To get started, experiment on plain paper.
Choose a style
There are several graffiti styles. The simplest - "bombing" - involves the use of one or two colors in the picture. A βpieceβ is stylized letters written in several colors. Wild Style is a more complex graffiti style, it involves sharp corners, interlacing of letters. So, before you begin, you should get acquainted with the different styles of drawing. If it is not customary in your city to draw graffiti on the walls (as a rule, special places are reserved for this), then you can find samples of drawings in special publications. The more pictures you see and try to copy, the faster you will develop your own style.
Sketch with a simple pencil
Start drawing graffiti letters with your name. Of course, you can use any other word that you like best, for example, the name of a loved one. Try a pencil sketch to make it easier to erase with an eraser. Draw large letters. The main thing is that they be the same size, round or sharp. Leave enough space between the letters, the space between them will need to be filled with color.
Add details
Circle the letters of the graffiti with a pencil. Use different line thicknesses to give your drawing a personal touch. Do not be afraid to change the original version beyond recognition. Try light shadows and unusual details such as stars, arrows, or drops. Using carbon paper, make several blanks of your drawing so as not to start all over again if you ruin something in the next steps.
Circle the border with a black marker
The next step will be more difficult. However, if you make a mistake, you will have a spare drawing. So, take your graffiti letters and circle their borders with a black marker or pen. Expand the boundaries of the picture, because there is enough free space. Try to make the effect of 3D. Now take a felt-tip pen or a pencil of a different color and draw another outline.
Add color
Color your drawing with colored pencils or felt-tip pens. Do not use many different colors. Classic graffiti letters are drawn with a minimum number of shades. You can also color additional parts in a different color. Your first graffiti is ready!
Keep practicing
Do not stop there. Having mastered simple techniques, try drawing in more complex ones. Complicating the work, gradually you will find your own individual style of graffiti. Pencil letters, of course, are easier to draw. However, experimenting with various tools, you might want to try creating elegant pictures with a special aerosol. The sequence of work is the same, only paint will be used instead of markers. And then you will discover the real art of graffiti!
