Maxim Tank University is one of the oldest pedagogical universities in the Republic of Belarus. Its history is not even calculated for decades, in 2014 the account went on for centuries. Pages of History: The Pre-War Period
Maxim Tank University arose, one might say, on a social request. At the beginning of the last century, there was a very great need for teachers in the Minsk province, but the pedagogical educational institutions of the nearby cities, Vitebsk and Mogilev, could not satisfy it. The Emperor All-Russian Emperor Nicholas II himself wished to deal with this problem, who in 1914 issued a decree on the need to open an institute in Minsk in which teachers would be trained.
In the first years of its existence, the future Maxim Tank University ran into some material difficulties. There was one small building that could hardly accommodate students, and there was not enough furniture and books for everyone. However, the university has endured difficulties. Unfortunately, the first building was not preserved, although it is known for certain that it was where the Yanka Kupala park is located in Minsk.
The future Maxim Tank University - at first it was named after Maxim Gorky - belonged to the Belarusian State University for some time. It became an independent educational institution only in 1931. And in the late 30s, the university was closed and continued its activities only in 1944.

In 1946, the school moved to a new building. It still exists and is located inside the main building. The hall and entrance to the Maxim Tank University is this very old building. In 1989, a dozen new floors were built on it. That is how we know him today.
The new name - the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank - received an educational institution in 1995, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Under this name it exists to this day. What has the university become now in the new millennium?

Today, the Maxim Tank Pedagogical University is the country's leading university in its field. It became the base for other large and famous higher educational institutions: Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts and Minsk State Linguistic University.
BSPU employs qualified teachers, many of whom are holders of degrees. They developed educational standards and basic curricula, which were then successfully implemented in teaching practice. The total number of publications of employees of graduating departments in scientific journals has already reached 1000.
