Fire Protection Day is celebrated in Russia on April 30. This date, like the holiday itself, has ancient roots. As early as April 30, 1649, two main security documents were adopted in Russia, in which very topical issues on fire fighting were raised . In those days, houses in Russia were completely made of wood, only among the wealthy citizens partly of stone, so this was a frequent occurrence. Historians say that only Moscow burned out several times.
These documents were nothing more than instructions for the prevention of this disaster. This was the beginning of the story of the holiday, which was called Fire Day. It was just ordered in these decrees to extinguish the fire with buckets of water, and they were obliged to have them in every yard.
Fighting fires in Russia was a difficult matter, but if you fought, then the whole world. It is a known fact that the Grand Duke and Tsar of All Russia Ivan III in 1475 personally commanded when extinguishing buildings and subsequently instructed Muscovites what safety measures to observe when handling fire.
Fire services existed even then, but they differed significantly from modern ones. Instead of cars there were carts with horses, as well as simple equipment, but, as now, there were fearless people who were entrusted with the duty of eliminating fire and saving lives.
Probably, then there was also the Day of Fire Protection with its traditions and customs, but not all data about it came to us. Only one thing is certain - in Russia this profession has always enjoyed well-deserved authority, it was honorable and respected.
Fire brigade day is a holiday of fearless men, there is no place for the weak and indifferent among them. It is thanks to their work, which is equivalent to a feat, that many lives have been saved.
This profession requires such personal qualities as the ability to self-discipline, mutual assistance and, of course, self-sacrifice. People who choose this specialty for themselves, as one team, go to the fiery hell at the very first signal in order to save a human life. Sometimes they die themselves. Most often this happens at work, and also from heart attacks. Such data provides us with statistics. Indeed, not all such a brave people can sustain a human heart.
