Standard designs
The best option for a beginner rider is a regular four-wheel board of the so-called American structure. The board kit includes:
- soundboard;
- castors;
- shock absorbers and suspensions (tracks);
- bearings;
- bolts for mounting fixtures.
Conventional types of skateboards can be a good solution for inexperienced riders who just managed to get on the board. Simple controls and a stable design will allow you to learn how to confidently stand on the platform and perform simple tricks. In addition, a standard skate is the cheapest option.
Mountainboards
Considering what types of skateboards are, it is immediately worth noting such popular models as mountainboards. The basis of products in this category is a marker board remotely resembling a snowboard. The design includes three wheels with a diameter of 8 inches each and a spring shock-absorbing suspension.
These types of skateboards are used mainly for extreme cross-country driving and conquering paved slopes. The main distinguishing feature is the need for static fixation of the legs with special mounts.

A great option for lovers of high-speed driving. A characteristic feature is the presence of wheels with wide tires made of soft rubber, which allows to repay shock loads in contact with irregularities.

Freeboards
They have four wide-spaced wheels in the standard configuration and two additional wheels placed under the board in the front and rear. Movable fasteners are able to rotate in all directions, which allows the rider to move the board in a circle without the need for separation from the surface.
T-boards
Two-wheeled skateboards known as T-boards fall into a separate category. They represent another attempt to simulate a snowboard.
The presence of only two wheels allows the rider to move, performing rotations around its own axis. Such constructions are extremely maneuverable, however, due to insufficient control, they do not allow riders to demonstrate complex tricks and jumps.

A technically complex development, where individual wheels are able to rotate in different directions independently of each other. Despite the rather high cost, such skateboards are of great interest both among amateurs and professional riders.
Motorboards
In fact, they are nothing more than a motorized mountainboard. On board there is an oversized single-cylinder engine, the power of which is enough to overcome the difficult terrain of rough terrain and high-speed skiing on an asphalt surface.
Fingerboards
A small copy of a regular skateboard for sophisticated fans of extreme sports. Operated by fingers and used to perform tricks. The design involves the installation of simplified suspensions, shock absorbers and bolts to adjust stiffness.
