Chery Tiggo - a crossover, long known to our motorists. Design
To begin with, it should be noted that Tiggo 5 is the first model of the Cherie company, the design of which was developed “from scratch”. Now the Chinese do not “lick” the designs of cars from Japanese and European counterparts and do not even make small restyling. Of course, the Germans did not help here - it was the Opel company that developed such an original and unusual design of the modern Chery Tiggo 5 SUV.
Expert reviews say that thanks to such a bright and impressive exterior, the Chinese will significantly expand the circle of their potential buyers, which will make it possible to compete successfully not only in the domestic, but also in the global automobile market. And now we can say for sure that the current Tiggo looks solid and rich at a relatively low cost, which is also an undoubted plus.
Dimensions and capacity
Compared with its predecessor, the new Cherie crossover has significantly “recovered” in size and has come close to such eminent SUVs as the VolksWagen Tiguan and Land Rover Freelander. The total length of the car is now 4506 mm, width - 1841 mm, height - 1740 mm.
Dimensions have increased, but the amount of luggage space, alas, let us down a little. In the trunk you can put no more than 370 liters of luggage. And the ground clearance for this large SUV is small - only 16.3 cm.

Oddly enough, but the interior design was also developed by the Chinese from scratch. Now it looks much more attractive than before. According to its layout, the car interior has not changed - it is still designed for 5 people. Finishing materials deserve special attention. Finally, “Tiggo” got rid of the noisy and hard inexpensive plastic that covered the entire inner front panel of the car. Now the quality of the plastic and other materials used is not inferior to the German. And this means that the manufacturer "Chery" has taken a huge step towards success and profit. In the center of the cabin there is a huge multimedia center with a built-in navigation system and other "bells and whistles". The architecture of the torpedo is made symmetrically, which does not burden the eye with extra lines and kinks. All the small details in the cabin are fitted to each other very high quality - it is simply impossible to notice the previous gaps. By the way, at the request of the client, the upholstery can be either fabric or leather. Pleased with the quality of sound insulation. Due to the lack of hard plastic, the old rumble and squeak are no longer inside.
Vehicle Specifications
All versions of Chery Tiggo 5 can be equipped with only one gasoline engine. The basic (at the same time top-end) is a two-liter unit with a capacity of 139 horsepower. But there are several transmissions. Depending on the configuration, Chery Tiggo 5 is equipped with a 5-speed "mechanics" or stepless variator.
Like it or not, budgeting still affects the technical part of Chery Tiggo 5. Test drive showed that the front-wheel drive, which is now the only one for this version of the crossover, is not always enough to cope with sandy or marshy terrain. This moment the Chinese automaker took into account: according to him, from 2015 on the conveyor will be made two modifications of "Cherie" - with all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. Of course, using a 4 x 4 drive continuously is unreasonable, as it affects fuel consumption. Most likely, the engineers will make it deactivable, that is, in urban areas only two wheels will work, and when leaving for the primer, all four. In the meantime, our motorists will be content with what they have.
What is the price of Chery Tiggo 5?
The cost of the new crossover “Chery Tiggo 5” in Russia will start from the mark of 650 thousand rubles. At the same time, the original equipment with a USB connector, full power accessories, air conditioning, rear parking sensors, front airbags, as well as ABS and EBD systems will be included in the basic package.
