The talented artist Ivan Kramskoy created a large number of beautiful paintings. One of his masterpieces is rightfully considered a painting written in a romantic style called “Moonlit Night”. The picture (Ivan Kramskoy painted it in 1880) captivates the viewer at first sight, it is full of mystery and soft evening colors. The beauty of the masterpiece was noted by both connoisseurs and fans of the artist’s work, as well as numerous critics.
"Moonlit Night" (picture)
Kramskoy Ivan very accurately managed to depict all the details of a quiet evening park, his naturalness is striking in the description of the surrounding nature. The sand path, trees and shrubs, lovely water lilies are transmitted very naturally. One can only guess what the artist actually thought, depicting the calm and serene work "Moonlit Night". The painting (Kramskoy tried to slightly transform the summer night with the barely perceptible moonlight) was painted very skillfully, for which it earned the highest praise of the next generations.
The beauty of a summer night
Shrouded in moonlight, the picture shows a girl sitting on a bench in a white robe. At the feet of a pensive beauty, you can see a small pond in which lunar reflections are reflected. In sad silence, she looks at the water and enjoys the long-awaited loneliness. There is peace and quiet, and nothing seems to be able to disturb the prevailing windless idyll.
Original composition
“Moonlit Night” is a picture (Kramskoy often painted night landscapes), which is distinguished by its unusual composition and expressive shades. A mysterious light illuminates not only the figure of a woman in white, but also individual sections of the picturesque area. The plot may seem trite, but it is only at first glance, the idea of creation is much deeper. The picture makes you think about the earthly and the eternal, about the fleeting illusiveness of feelings and the infinity of the beautiful unity of man and nature.
One of the best romantic works of a talented Russian artist
This is one of the most fascinating works that Ivan Kramskoy wrote. "Moonlit Night" (the description of the picture is imbued with incredible lyricism and romanticism) was created with the participation of two models.
Initially, the woman in white was Anna Popova, who later became the wife of the famous chemist Dmitry Mendeleev. At the final stage of writing, the main character already copied from another model, Elena Andreevna Tretyakova, the second wife of the buyer and customer of the painting, philanthropist and famous collector Sergei Tretyakov. The name "Moonlit Night" did not come immediately, the artist considered a variety of options, including "Magic Night", "Old Poplars" or simply "Night". According to the last will of the owner, after his death, the canvas was transferred to the Tretyakov Gallery, where it is located to this day.
