The Voronezh State University Library as the main information and communication center of the Voronezh State Technical University is working towards the modernization of the university library resources management structure and the improvement of library information services based on the use of innovative technologies.
Directions in the field of work organization
One of the priority areas in the organization of work is improving the management system and implementing personnel policy, and organizing the raising of the professional level of library workers. In order to preserve the fund of rare and valuable publications, the composition of the fund is studied for the selection of publications to be digitized. For the effective preservation of funds, the certification of book storage facilities has begun.
Library funds
The disclosure of document resources occurs by replenishing the electronic catalog. The electronic catalog of the VSU library is also supplemented by bibliographic descriptions of individual articles in periodicals and scientific bulletins. The formation of a fund of electronic documents is constantly being carried out - copies of those publications that are published in the publishing house (scientific collections, newsletters, educational and methodical publications). The scientific literature fund is replenished with electronic editions on CD. We are actively working with partners from the domestic book exchange, and university publications are sent out annually.
Library and bibliographic service
Library and bibliographic service as one of the leading areas of work is designed to provide high-quality and complete satisfaction of the scientific and information needs of teachers, researchers and university students. A multifunctional automated system has been introduced. The VSU library is connected by a computer network to the university. Information and bibliographic services for users are carried out in a combination of traditional and newest forms, the number of information provided in the automatic mode is growing.
To fulfill strategic maintenance tasks, the existing ones are expanded annually and new opportunities for user access to information sources are created. Among the installed workstations - an electronic catalog; picking; book supply; systematization; cataloger; scientific bibliography; book issuance; barcoding literature. Automated user service is being introduced in stages.
E-library
The VSU library provides users with access to information sources in electronic and hybrid reading rooms. Users with laptops in one of the library buildings are given access to the university network and the Internet using Wi-Fi technology.
An information system is being introduced - an electronic archive of scientific publications primarily by university employees.
One of the priority areas of work is the creation of sources of bibliographic information, as well as electronic resources based on them. The electronic scientific archive contains bibliographic indexes of the series “Bibliography of scientists. Voronezh State Technical University ”and printed works of the university.
The institution provides information support for databases. The creation of the databases “Problems of Higher Education” and “Actual Issues in the Socio-Economic Periodicals” has begun. Work is underway on an electronic version of the “Library of materials for library materials” catalog.
Library Research
The Voronezh State University library considers scientific and publishing activity to be its priority. Research work is aimed at improving it. It is carried out by employees of various structural divisions, formally united in a scientific creative group. To successfully complete the task, constant cooperation has been established with the departments of the state university. Scientific research is carried out within working hours, and their results are published, as well as used for presentations at conferences.
To rationalize the topic, scientific developments are combined into global problems: “Documentary memory of Russia. The book culture of Voronezh: history, key base ”; “Scientific and bibliographic processing and disclosure of library funds”; "Problems of library science"; Voronezh State University: Creation of the electronic information environment of the library as a scientific base for the information support of research and educational processes. ”
VSU: zonal library
Sociocultural activity is carried out by organizing and conducting annual events: the scientific-practical conference "Modern problems of activity in the conditions of the information society" and inter-university seminars, library information days for university employees.
In the direction of developing cooperation, the VSU library maintains partnerships with leading libraries of Russia. The institution develops the direction of the university's activities on humanitarian education of the educational process by means of cultural and educational work. Considerable attention is paid to the organization, more than 100 events are prepared annually using both traditional and innovative methods.
