ZAZ Sens, a passenger car, a cheaper version of the South Korean Daewoo Lanos, is produced by the Zaporizhzhya Automobile Plant in two versions: a sedan and a hatchback. Serial production of the model began in 2000 and continues to the present. The machine is equipped with an engine, radiator and gearbox of Ukrainian production. The remaining components are from South Korea.
In 2000, the joint venture Auto ZAZ-Daewoo introduced the Lanos T100 model to a wide audience. The new car was called ZAZ-Daewoo L-1300 and was the result of joint development of Ukrainian and South Korean specialists.
Engine
The power plant is an engine of the Melitopol Motor Plant MeMZ 301 brand, gasoline, carburetor, which produces a capacity of 63 liters. from. with a cylinder displacement of 1.3 liters. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. In 2001, ZAZ Sens was equipped with a new engine with an injector developing a capacity of 70 liters. from.
In 2002, the competition “Think of a name for the car” was held, as a result of which the designation L-1300 was replaced by Daewoo Sens, and in 2007 the car was named ZAZ Sens. In addition to the new name, the car acquired an improved engine of the Melitopol plant brand MeMZ 317 with a capacity of 77 liters. from. with fuel injection, a 5-speed manual transmission from South Korea and interior upgrades.
In September 2011, ZAZ Sens with an Italian engine was presented at the Kiev auto show. And in March 2012, the car began to be equipped with engines that comply with the Euro-3 standard.
Transmission
ZAZ Sens, specifications which are generally at a good level, is a front-wheel drive car with a transverse engine. The clutch is single-plate, friction, dry, the clutch release actuator is hydraulic, the force from the pedal to the clutch release fork is transmitted from the main cylinder through a high pressure flexible pipe. The clutch transmits the rotation to a manual gearbox, and that, in turn, rotates the separate front wheel drives.
Two-shaft gearbox, 5-speed. A Daewoo gearbox is installed on cars with a 1.4-liter engine displacement, and on cars with a 1.3-liter engine, a gearbox from the ZAZ-1103 and ZAZ-1102, Slavuta and Tavria Nova models is installed. The gearbox has 5 forward gears, as well as one for reverse gear. All gears (except reverse) are helical gears with synchronizers. The main gear and two-satellite differential are located in one block.
The gear ratio of the gearbox for the MeMZ engine is 1.3:
- The first speed is 3.444.
- The second speed is 2.056.
- The third speed is 1.333.
- The fourth speed is 0.969.
- The fifth speed is 0.828.
- Reverse - 3.358.
- Direct transmission - 4.133.
Gear ratio for Daewoo engine - 1.4:
- The first speed is 3,545.
- The second speed is 2.048.
- The third speed is 1.346.
- The fourth speed is 0.971.
- The fifth speed is 0.763.
- Reverse - 3.333.
- Direct transmission - 4,190.
Front-wheel drive: two articulated shafts of equal speeds. Periodic lubrication and maintenance are not needed.
Wheels
ZAZ Sens wheels - 13-inch stamped steel wheels - are mounted on four bolts. The spare wheel is located in a recess under the luggage compartment floor. Initially, the car was equipped with South Korean-made tires, then Polish Debica tires. Currently, ZAZ Sens is equipped with tubeless tires manufactured in Ukraine by Rosava - 175/70 R13.
Suspension
The chassis of ZAZ Sens is quite reliable and has good technical parameters. Front suspension - MacPherson strut, independent, with coil springs as well as hydraulic shock absorbers. Rear suspension - semi-independent, spiral, pendulum design, reinforced by torsion bar lateral stability.
Steering
The steering column ZAZ Sens is safety, with an anti-theft device. The rack-and-pinion steering mechanism can be equipped with a hydraulic booster, depending on the configuration. A frontal airbag is located under the steering wheel.
Brake system
The ZAZ Sens car is equipped with a working brake system, a spare emergency and parking. The main system is dual-circuit, hydraulic with a diagonal distribution and automatic adjustment of the braking force depending on the load. Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes. The ZAZ Sens brake system has a vacuum booster.
Body
Body ZAZ Sens bearing, all-metal, in two versions: sedan and hatchback. The 4-door sedan has a length of 4237 mm, 5-door hatchback - 4074 mm. The width of both options is the same - 1678 mm. The fuel tank holds 48 liters.
Corrosion Protection
In order for the body to be durable, ZAZ Sens uses anti-corrosion protection. Body parts are manufactured by cold stamping, then a protective coating is applied on them, zinc-nickel MG 30/30 and zinc GA4S / 45. A zinc-nickel protective layer is used to cover parts directly in contact with an external aggressive environment, and zinc-based protection is used for parts having indirect contact. The bottom of the car and side skirts are protected by zinc from the outside. The trunk lid, the doors on the outside and the hood are treated with a MG layer, and the hidden body parts, side members and the inner lining of the engine compartment are covered with GA4S. 83 parts of the body are subjected to zinc-nickel treatment, the rest are covered with a paint and varnish layer.
Equipment
ZAZ Sens, photo which is presented on the page, is available in the basic configuration, the minimum for a model of this class. The car belongs to the category of economy class cars, and its equipment cannot be exclusive. Therefore, the model is equipped with only the most necessary: an audio system, heated rear window and seat belts. Improved SE modification involves the installation of power steering, on-board computer, GPS system.
ZAZ Sens, reviews which, on the whole, are good, has a low cost of operation, inexpensive spare parts, economy, endurance and a significant resource. The disadvantages include the complicated design of the gearbox, which breaks down quite often. Also causes many complaints low ground clearance.
