Requirements for the design of literary sources are established by GOST 7.1-2003. This is the main regulatory document in force in Russia. At the same time, one must carefully study how to best design this or that source. Indeed, in this case, everything will depend on what a particular resource is, how many authors worked on its creation, and what part of the book or magazine was involved in the process of designing a specific work. Therefore, deciding to draw up a list of references in the term paper, be sure to read this document.

It is worth noting that directly in the text of the work a link to a specific source is necessarily given, or rather its serial number in the list of literature, which is traditionally given in all works after the conclusion, is indicated. It is also necessary to indicate the page number from which specific information was taken. Therefore, when doing a literature review, be sure to carefully outline where and when you took certain data. This will greatly simplify subsequently the preparation of an abstract or term paper. After all, here, regardless of the specialty of the student, a list of references is always given. It is especially important to do this in writing a research paper. Here, the rules for the design of the list of references must be observed especially carefully. Indeed, the reliability of the information you receive and the significance of the work as a whole will depend on this.

It is worth noting that the rules for the design of the list of references allow two possible options for numbering sources. The first and most common is the way in which a sequence number is assigned in accordance with the sequence of occurrence of links in the text. If this option is inconvenient for a specific work, then all sources can be arranged in alphabetical order. However, it is worth considering that in this case the linking will have to be done at the very last moment, since in the case of new data, it is likely that the existing numbering will have to be corrected. The main thing here is not to get confused, because very often when defending a term paper or diploma the commission members verify the link to the source with the information contained in the text of the work being defended. And since they are all specialists in this field, they most likely know very well what is being discussed in a particular book and will thus be able to control a student who has violated the rules for writing a list of literature.

The GOST 7.1-2003 mentioned above is mandatory. However, individual academic institutions may publish their own regulatory document, the so-called enterprise standard. That's it he most often sets the rules for the design of term papers. Therefore, before you begin to draw up work, it is necessary to check with the manager the availability of this document. If this is not available, then the rules for writing a list of references and work as a whole will comply with GOST requirements that apply throughout the country.
