early years
The singer was born on December 3, 1927 in Wall Lake, Iowa. As a child, Andy Williams showed a craving for music and a wonderful singing talent. The boy made his first steps in the musical field by participating in a church choir. After some time, the guy decided to create a family quartet with three brothers.
At first, the group performed on the air of midwestern radio stations. Later, the guys moved to Los Angeles to try their luck and seek entry into the posh world of show business. The Williams brothers quartet managed to help Bing Crosby with his hit Swinging on a Star and perform with Kay Thompson at the end of the forties.
Solo career
Since 1952, Andy decided to continue the musical path alone. Four years later, the singer was in the top ten Billboard Hot 100 with a vocal version of the minus Canadian Sunset. And already in 1957 he came out on top with the song Butterfly, which was remembered due to rock and roll motives.
In the sixties, the performer led his own television show. In the same period, the songs of Andy Williams changed their listener: now the pop singer wrote for the older generation. The peak of his career is associated with the song Speak Softly Love, which sounded in the Oscar-winning film "The Godfather", and the hit Where Do I Begin - Andy's hallmark.
The artist has more than ten albums. And each of them is amazingly diverse: you can listen to lyrical ballads, or you can dance to energetic rock and roll.
The man was married twice: the first wife - singer Claudine Longe (divorced in 1975), the second - Debbie Meyer. Together with his second wife, he kept the Moon River musical theater.
Andy Williams died of bladder cancer on September 25, 2012. Although death took his body, he will never take away all the love that the artist left in his songs.
