Who i really am
The question "Who am I?" Each person asks himself more than once in his life. In three years, a clarification of gender occurs. Who am I - boy or girl? Then, at the age of 10-12, we try to find the answer to the question “Am I a child or an adult, what can I do?” And by the age of 16, the main question is “Who am I? What is my path? ” It is at this time that a person is determined by the following points: 1. Gender; 2. Professionalism; 3. Self-development.
In psychology, the answer to the question “Who am I and what am I” is the essence of such a concept as “I” concept (“I” image, image of “I”). This is a system of representations of the individual about himself, the conscious, reflective part of the personality. It should be noted that these representations of oneself are more or less realized and have relative stability.
Thus, the “I” concept determines not only what the individual is, but also what he thinks of himself, how he looks at his active principle and the possibilities for future development.
The cognitive, evaluative, and behavioral components of the “I” concept are traditionally distinguished.
The cognitive component is the individual’s self-image, a set of characteristics that he thinks he possesses.
Evaluation - this is how an individual evaluates these characteristics, how they relate to them.
Behavioral is how a person actually acts.
All that was said above is a theory. But how in practice? Try it yourself now to define yourself - who am I?
Have you tried it? And what happened? How many words were in your definition of yourself? Two three? Or more? Yes, it is difficult even to oneself to say about oneself without preparation. It seems to understand who and what you are, but somehow you’re embarrassed to say beautifully. And just as clear ... But is it clear? If you can’t put it in words?
Let's seriously prepare for this answer by doing a small (but not very easy) exercise. Get creative with a flight of fantasy.
So, let's get started. Divide the blank sheet into 3 columns.
The first will be called "Who I Am." Write in it 15-20 definitions of nouns of yourself. For example, a man, husband, electrician, etc.
The second column will be called "What I Am." In it write 10 definitions-adjectives of yourself. For example, funny, smart, etc.
And the third column will be called "What is my path, or my mission." There will be enough 5-6 ways. Here you need to write what leads you through life, your settings, etc. For example, love of life, faith in God , etc.
Next, cross out 10 irrelevant definitions from the first column, 5 from the second, and 3 from the third. Delete another 5 irrelevant definitions from the first column. Thus, in the first column we will have 5 words, in the second - also 5, in the third - 3
From the remaining words we make 3 sentences so that each sentence contains 1-2 words from the first and second columns and one path from the third. If everything is ok with the definition of yourself, then you get 3 slogans, mottos that will define you in three directions, namely: 1. Gender; 2. Professionalism; 3. Self-development.
How did it happen? Do you see yourself like that? Do you like yourself? Or is there something to work on? Good luck then!
