Pineapple during pregnancy - harm or benefit?

Taste preferences of a pregnant woman change often enough. But it also happens that, walking past the store counter, looking through magazines, TV shows we see it - pineapple, it beckons with its delicious, ripe, juicy look, exotic sweet-sour aroma and it seems that it would eat it with kilograms day and night. But there is one β€œbut”, whether such eating will be beneficial, will it not harm the health of the future baby?

So, pineapple: benefit and harm.

Pineapple fruits and its juice are rich in vitamin C, A, D, vitamins of group B, PP, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iodine, phosphorus, iron, zinc, copper, carotene, bromelain and many other useful trace elements. But all these vitamins and microelements contain only fresh fruits or freshly squeezed juice. When preserved, pineapple loses almost all its useful properties and becomes just a tasty and beautiful treat.

Bromelain, which is part of pineapple, makes this fruit very healthy. Thanks to this active substance, the use of pineapples will help maintain vitality, improve mood, preserve youthful skin and its natural beauty, improve the digestive process, cleanse blood vessels and eliminate fibrin plugs that form in the veins. Once in the intestines, bromelain, due to its antiseptic effect, destroys pathogenic and harmful bacteria.

Pregnant women with varicose veins in the early stages can relieve the disease by eating a small amount of this exotic fruit. Also, fresh pineapple juice or pineapple during pregnancy in small quantities will help to improve well-being. Due to its properties, pineapple during pregnancy will contribute to the rapid breakdown of food, which will relieve heartburn, heaviness in the stomach, flatulence; cleans the walls in blood vessels of fat accumulations, thereby lowering the pressure; thins the blood, which will help prevent some cardiovascular diseases; increase immunity; will help prevent vitamin deficiencies and hypovitaminosis. Pineapple has a diuretic property, as a result of which it removes excess water from the body, preventing the appearance of edema.

During pregnancy, pineapple should be used very carefully, because it belongs to allergens and can provoke an allergy in a susceptible organism of a future mother, as well as in an unborn baby. This exotic fruit increases the acidity in the gastric juice, therefore it is contraindicated in gastritis and gastric ulcer. If you use pineapple excessively during pregnancy, and indeed, in ordinary people, it can lead to indigestion, damage to the mucous membrane in the mouth, and damage to tooth enamel. Some scientists argue that the daily and immense consumption of such an exotic fetus can lead to premature birth, since a large amount of bromelain in the body helps stimulate muscles and increase uterine tone. Because of this, it is generally not recommended to use pineapple during pregnancy.

Most obstetrician-gynecologists recommend in the early stages of pregnancy (1 trimester) the use of pineapples and freshly squeezed pineapple juice to minimize, and it is better to eliminate it from the diet altogether. In the 2nd trimester, you can allow yourself to be pampered with exotic things if there is no disposition of the body to allergies, diseases for which there are contraindications to the use of pineapples, and general intolerance to the components that make up the fetus. But even if all of the above is not about you, it’s not worth it to abuse pineapple and pineapple juice. Doctors recommend taking exotic fruits and vegetables postponed to the 3rd trimester. It is considered the safest for the health of the child, but even during this period it is necessary not to forget about the measure.
