In the manufacture of beds, pallets can serve as a base. From an economic point of view, this option will be very profitable - ready-made factory frames cost significantly more. You can buy new pallets, but you can buy already used ones. In the latter case, the cost of the material, if successful, can be purely symbolic.
Option for the lazy
A bed of pallets in the simplest version can consist of four identical ready-made "frames" that need to be fastened together. A mattress of a suitable size is purchased separately. Such a bed can be either single or double. You can build a suitable headboard from pallets. It should correspond to the width of the main berth.
Bed with mattress box
You can assemble a bed from pallets by mounting a box from them into which a suitable mattress will fit. To do this, turn over the wooden pallet and carefully cut out the middle support. After that, fix the cut-out part between the two side ones so that the letter “P” is formed. The same should be done with the second pallet. When both halves of the future bed frame are ready, connect them with suitable slats. The finished “box” should be installed on two pallets, composed and fixed together.
Small bed
By installing and holding together two pallets, you can easily build a single bed or crib. You can paint it with paint or decorate it beautifully with a cloth or faux leather. You just have to lay on top a suitable mattress and cover it with bedding.

Bed light
Purchase an extension cord for two outlets of the appropriate length (it should be pulled out from the bed to the outlet). You will need a duralight (luminous cord, available at stores selling lighting fixtures) - two pieces of 185 cm each. Buy suitable fasteners (sometimes come directly with the duralight) and small screws. A bed of pallets with backlighting will work out well if you correctly install the luminous cord. How to do it?

- Connect with duralight caps. All contacts must go deep into the channels through which the wiring passes.
- Put the cap on the free end of the luminous cord.
- Attach an electric cord to each piece of the prepared duralight.
- Check the performance of the finished pieces by connecting them to the mains.
- After that, you can screw the duralight around the perimeter of the frame (on the sides). A distance of 25 cm must be maintained.
- Fasten the cord tightly to the mounts.
- Check the operation of the structure by connecting pieces of duralight to the network.
- Replace the mattress.
As you can see, it’s not difficult to assemble a bed from pallets with your own hands.
Many of those who plan to make a bed out of pallets see it as "one-story". However, you can build it and "multi-storey." By the way, the “floors” can serve as convenient shelves that will house your favorite books and other pleasant “little things”.
An interesting and practical option is to install a bed on wheels. With the help of them you can easily and simply move your berth to any place. Remember that the weight of such a bed is large enough, therefore, for this design, you should purchase powerful wheels designed for heavy loads.
To extend the life of your new furniture, we recommend painting the product with paint or varnish. It is advisable to cover the bed with two to three layers. Depending on your taste, you can vary the color scheme. For example, the white color of the furniture will remind of distant Scandinavia, and the soft gray - of Belgium.
Some people prefer the natural color of wood and do not want to paint pallets. However, it should be remembered that only brand new pallets can not be washed or painted. After all, it is not known what cargoes were transported on these pallets, it is possible that subsequently the organic material in the wood will begin to decompose and emit an unpleasant odor. This can be avoided if the wood is carefully treated with special disinfectants, such as bleach.
