From the history
Immediately after the revolution, in 1918, the Tauride University was created in Crimea, and a faculty was opened under it, where doctors were trained.
The faculty was headed by anatomist Roman Gelvig, unfortunately, who did not live up to the first graduation of students - he died of typhus. The first students received diplomas in 1922.
In 1925, the status of the university was changed to a pedagogical institute, and the medical faculty was closed, although more than fifty doctors were trained in 7 years.
Crimean doctors consider 1931 the year of the founding of their “alma mater," it was then, on April 1, in the Crimea, Simferopol, that the medical institute that was named after Stalin was reopened. True, at that time it consisted of one faculty - medical and preventive.
By the beginning of World War II, more than 1.5 thousand people were studying at the Crimean Medical Institute, more than a hundred teachers worked. During the war, while being evacuated, the Crimean Medical University continued to train doctors. Among the 850 students graduated during these years was Gavriil Ilizarov, the future famous orthopedist and surgeon.
In the 50s, S. Georgievsky became the rector of the institute, whose name was subsequently assigned to the institution. The Institute is developing: it is accepting foreign students from Latin America, Asia, and Africa to study, and the number of faculties is increasing. The university receives medical status in 1998.
Since 2014 Crimean Medical University. Georgievsky becomes a structural unit of the Crimean Federal University.
Now 3,000 Russian citizens are studying in it, another 1,660 people are citizens of other states. Nearly 500 residents are trained. 44 graduate students are engaged in science. 86 people receive a master's degree.

In the residency of the Crimean Medical University, training is conducted in 32 licensed specialties. Graduate students are trained in basic and clinical medicine.

Teachers

The Crimean Medical University named after Georgievsky occupies a huge area - 16 hectares; educational buildings and a sports complex, a culture center and five dormitories are located on this territory. Training takes place in 16 buildings, where there was a place for 4 electronic reading rooms, 25 computer classes. The classrooms feature specialized equipment - phantoms and dummies, so that students can personally see what they read in books and heard in lectures.
