Story
In 1930, the Sverdlovsk (so called Yekaterinburg) circus was in a wooden building on Kuibyshev Street. After a fire in 1976, a new building was built in the city center for four years.
The updated circus was opened on February 1, 1980. He bears the name of the famous trainer, a native of the city and his honorary resident, People's Artist of the USSR Valentin Filatov.
In 1994, Anatoly Marchevsky, People's Artist of Russia, a favorite of the public, good-natured and charming, working in the genre of clowning, was appointed director. After his appointment, the circus began to really revive. The best performers from Russia and abroad began to be invited, scenarios were developed with the participation of the audience themselves. The circus performed by national, honored artists and laureates of the state prize of the Russian Federation - Walter and Mstislav Zapashny, Tamerlan Nugzarov, Igor Kio, Teresa Durova and other stars of the arena.
Since 1996, circus art festivals have been held continuously, including international ones. Since 2008, on an ongoing basis, stars of the world arena from France, Belgium, Italy, Great Britain and other countries began to be invited to the Yekaterinburg circus. Artists of Russian and foreign pop perform at the arena, various concerts, festivals and special events are held.
Original building
With the advent of the new director, the appearance of the circus has changed significantly, both outside and inside. A major reconstruction of the main building was carried out, its technical re-equipment, the adjacent territory was also changed and landscaped.
An unusual building with a semicircular roof from openwork arches from a distance attracts the attention of tourists. Its design is adapted for the most complex directorial ideas and creative productions. The original structure has excellent acoustics.
The interior of the building is decorated with Ural stones. Two arenas are constantly working - the main one (intended for performances) and the rehearsal room, which allows artists to prepare even during the performance. There are 2,558 seats.

Circus. Program for children
Special performances for the smallest are held on an ongoing basis. In addition, a series of events has been developed for children with disabilities, orphans and children from orphanages. In addition to free performances in the arena, circus employees also travel to hospitals with mini-performances for sick kids.
The organization operates a children's studio of aerial gymnastics and acrobatics. Recruitment is underway at the Arlekino circus studio. For kids 3-4 years old, the early development group "The Circus Game" is open.
In addition to charity performances for children, preferential and free performances are held for pensioners, the disabled, members of low-income families, as well as performances dedicated to city events.
The most famous productions
For the first time, they spoke of a serious competitor about the Yekaterinburg circus in 2006, when the play โProtect Clownsโ was staged. This performance is dedicated to the famous circus and film artist Yuri Nikulin. The performance had no analogues in the country and immediately attracted attention, and the artists were invited to the Moscow Circus to familiarize the capital's inhabitants with a wonderful creative project. It is not surprising that it was Yekaterinburg that became the venue for the grandiose World Clown Festival in 2008.

The building was commissioned in 1980. This house is a circus hotel for performances coming to the city. The building is recognized as the best residential complex for guest performers in Russia. The House of Artists has 33 residential rooms for circus performers and 33 commercial rooms.
The apartments are more like one- and two-room apartments (the suite has 3 rooms). There are kitchens, bathrooms, balconies or loggias.

Circus "Du Soleil". Yekaterinburg
Feedback from the audience in October 2011 was overwhelmed with emotions - the famous circus Du Soleil arrived in the city. This was the first performance of famous Frenchmen in Russia, and the tour started in Yekaterinburg. Famous acrobats, crazy tricks - these performances were remembered by the audience for a long time. It was impossible to get tickets for a two-hour performance, which was held with short breaks for 14 days.
To deliver the props to the show, twelve huge trucks were involved. Fifty artists participated in the performance.

The State Circus of Yekaterinburg is located at the intersection of March 8 and Kuibyshev Streets, on the embankment of the Iset River. Opening hours: from 9-00 to 19-00, without lunch.
The building is organized by the Museum of Circus Art. This is the only gallery in Russia where all exhibits are allowed to be picked up.
