Long-term motorists are well aware that during long-term operation of the machine, the body and paint suffer the most. Rains and slush, salt on the roads in the winter, frequent washing, sunlight - all this has a detrimental effect on the paint of the car. It fades, loses its gloss. And if you add mechanical damage to it - scratches from trees, small chips from pebbles flying off from under the wheels of oncoming cars, it becomes clear that the painting of the car is necessary.
Not always the car owner comes to the decision to paint it just because he lost his original appearance. Someone just wants to refresh the color, someone wants to change this color to a new one, someone has decided to turn his car into a chameleon, and someone just needs to put some kind of drawing - airbrushing. Before embarking on a dream come true, you need to know what this interesting process is - painting a car.
It should be noted right away that this is a rather laborious and responsible work. It requires experience, knowledge of various painting technologies. The final result will largely depend on the quality of the preparation of the car for painting and the materials used, as well as the qualifications of the master who will perform this work.
The machine can be painted in two ways. You can paint only the outer surfaces of the car, and then bumpers, handles and other decorative overhead elements are removed from it. Headlights, glass, seals are covered with paper or masking tape. When using this method, high-quality painting cannot be achieved. Traces may remain in the form of smudges or splashes on the glass and seals.
In addition, it must be borne in mind that the painting of the machine in this way is not done in a special chamber, but in a normal working box, where it is dusty and dirty. Therefore, a serious problem arises of the rough, uneven surface of the painted car. A car with freshly applied paint remains to dry in the same dusty box. This method can please the car owner only with its cheapness - pouring paint on a car is much cheaper than driving it into a special camera and painting it completely.
A more effective method is painting the car in a special chamber. The cost of such work is much higher. If you use this method, then most of the money for painting will go to preliminary preparation. The final result largely depends on how the preparation of the machine for painting is done.
First, old paint is removed from the machine. This is usually done with sandpaper. Then each part is cleaned of rust and immediately covered with
anti-corrosion primer. If there is minor damage, then they are repaired with a putty, and a layer of a filler is applied on top of it. The machined part is thoroughly dried and ground to a perfectly smooth surface.
To paint the car in the chamber, everything that is possible is removed from the car - only a bare body is left. It is placed in a chamber and stained, then dried, varnished, dried and polished again. It remains only to assemble the car. The car looks as if only from the conveyor.
There is another least expensive method - painting the car with your own hands using a spray can. You get a spray of enamel of the desired color and spray it on the surface of the body. It is unlikely that you will be able to completely paint the car in this way, but minor scratches are quite possible to eliminate.
