Unfortunately, no modern car is safe from damage in the form of chips, dents and scratches. Of course, with modern tools and technologies, these problems can be eliminated very quickly. But the big problem is the cost of such work. In this regard, many motorists make cosmetic repairs of the body on their own.
And today we will look at how to paint
scratches on a car correctly.
What needs to be done first?
So, we have a scratch on the car. What to do? In the first stage, of course, you need to do a sweep. That is, the surface of the paintwork that has been damaged is thoroughly degreased and cleaned of traces of road dust, dirt and other deposits. It is also necessary to remove traces of corrosion, if you find them there. Approach the issue with rust very seriously, because the future look of your car may depend on this. If corrosion is eliminated poorly, no primer can guarantee you normal adhesion of the paint to the metal.
How to paint scratches on the car further? Next, the body should be treated with a sheet of sandpaper. If this is a scratch, we take only fine-grained sandpaper and carefully treat damaged areas on the body.
Putty
After cleaning, the deformed surface is putty. It is best to take polyester with the hardener. We will also need rubber spatulas. After mixing the hardener and putty, you can safely apply the resulting substance to the body. Be careful - if the mixing proportions of these two components are not properly observed, this product may harden even before being applied to the metal (directly on the spatula!). Therefore, we pay attention to the instructions.
Surface sanding
After applying the putty, you should wait about 1-2 hours (depending on the proportion of the hardener mixing) and with the help of coarse-grained emery paper remove rough roughness that has formed after self-repair. Then all this needs to be fixed with fine-grained sandpaper. By the way, if it is only a scratch, it is not necessary to use coarse-grained, since with one uneven movement you can damage part of the surviving paint.
Checking the quality of work is very simple. After sanding, palm should be held on the repaired surface. If you do not feel any tubercles and other irregularities, then the work is done on "5 with a plus."
Primer
Now we proceed to one of the most critical stages - the primer. Such a substance can be purchased in several forms - in the form of an aerosol spray or a small jar. It is best to trust the first option, as this will provide not only speed, but also the quality of the work performed. Soil sprayed from a spray can evenly spreads over the entire surface of the area being repaired, and it also dries quickly (no more than 10-15 minutes).
You can apply in one or more layers. It all depends on the scale of the work. But, as practice shows, it is enough to apply only one layer of soil, and the paint will keep perfectly on the body.
We remove minor scratches on the machine. Selection and application of paint
One of the most difficult steps is choosing the right paint for your car. Now millions of different colors are sold in stores, but we canβt guarantee that it will look exactly the same with your car. In order to be sure of your choice, you need to know your body paint number in advance. It is very simple to do this - just find on the machine a small stamping with technical and other data. Most often, it is painted in body color. For example, on cars "Daewoo Nexia" this plate is located in the engine compartment. It's easy to find it - it is located between the bonnet and the radiator grille (slightly to the left, when viewed from the driver's seat). Color is marked with several numbers and letters. On the same "Nexia", for example, white color is indicated by the code "10 L".

Having learned the exact number of body paint, you can safely go to the market, and there the sellers will pick up the necessary goods for you, which coincides 100 percent with the factory shade. A pencil from scratches on the machine is unlikely to help.
Now about applying. This can be done in two ways - using a spray gun and a thin brush. A better way, of course, will be the first, but not all of us have such painting equipment. Therefore, we buy a thin brush and dip it in a jar of paint. By the way, a few milliliters of hardener must be added to the last before work, so that the substance can better hold on the primer.
How to paint scratches on a car? Applying varnish
After carrying out all the above manipulations, you can safely proceed to the final stage - applying varnish. To do this, we need to buy a special spray can in the store. Before performing work (if you do not have such experience) it is better to practice on some other surface. After that, degrease the already painted place again and apply varnish to the body. Sometimes the surface after this becomes non-smooth. In this case, using sandpaper 1300 caliber at an angle of 45 degrees, you need to carefully process the painted surface. But do not be too zealous - with one careless movement, you risk removing all the paint!

Finally, the repaired surface is treated with a non-abrasive polish. How to polish scratches on a car? To do this, you will need a rag and a tube of the above substance. In a circular motion, the polish is absorbed into microcracks, and then the paintwork becomes less vulnerable to environmental influences. Before polishing the scratches on the machine, you need to move away from the sun. Then the result will be positive. So, we figured out how to paint scratches on a car.
