Sometimes owners of domestic VAZs (including Lada-Kalina) complain of poor ventilation of the stove, as a result of which windows begin to sweat, and an unpleasant smell arises in the cabin. Dismantling process
First we need to remove the lining. To do this, remove the 2 stoppers plugs that block access to the heads of the fixing screws. They are removed using an ordinary slotted screwdriver. Next, use the Torx-20 wrench to unscrew another 2 screws. If you haven’t found a tool like Torx-20 in your garage, you can use a regular screwdriver with interchangeable bits.
At the next stage, open the hood and unscrew another 3 fixing screws. Then remove the right side of the windshield lining. You can do this in several ways - with the hood open, simply pull it down, or with the glass closed with the brush raised, move it left and right (and then slightly down) until it is removed.
Lining should be removed very carefully, as there is a risk of damage to plastic parts. Before opening the hood, be sure to return the windshield brush to its original position.
Next, using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the washer tube mounting screw and two cover bolts, under which the filter is located. The cover is removed by moving left and right, and then gently extends upward. It should be noted that on "Kalina" the aperture through which this part is removed by hand has sharp edges, therefore, for safety reasons, it is recommended to work in rag gloves. Now the only thing left is to push the latches to the sides and remove the old filter element. That's all, the dismantling of the device is over. Now the second part of the replacement is the installation of a new element.
How to change the cabin filter "Kalina-VAZ"? Install a new part
In principle, such work is no different from dismantling (the only thing is that everything is done in the reverse order). Therefore, for installation, you can use the instructions outlined above. The only thing you need to pay attention to is the arrow, which indicates the direction of the air entering through the filter. In this case, this part must be installed so that the arrow points down. In this case, the latches are fixed in place of attachment of the filter element.
How much time does this work take?
Often motorists cope with this task in 15-20 minutes. Moreover, most of the time is spent searching for the filter itself (on the Kalina it is located on the left in the engine compartment).
How often should the cabin filter be replaced?
Kalina, however, like other domestic cars, requires the replacement of this filter element at least once every 6 months. Often motorists neglect this requirement, and in the end they get a persistent and very unpleasant smell in the cabin. By the way, if this part is not very clogged, it can be restored (that is, cleaned), then the need to purchase a new element will disappear.
How to clean the cabin filter?
Immediately, we note that the above procedure is unacceptable for devices that have not changed for 100-150 thousand kilometers or more than 1 year. Such elements are so clogged that the only way out of the situation is to completely replace the cabin filter (Kalina VAZ). But if you change this item on time, you can do with ordinary cleaning. How is it produced? Everything is very simple - the surface of this part must be thoroughly vacuumed (so that the main dust and dirt go away) and rinsed under running water. To be sure, motorists add a few drops of detergent.
In more advanced cases, you need to soak this element for some time in water. After this, part of the dirt should leave it, and the residues are cleaned with a steam generator. Thus, after a kind of disinfection, you eliminate all microorganisms that settled in the filter during its operation, and only clean air will enter the cabin.
After processing the device with a steam generator, this element should be thoroughly blown and left to dry for a day. After that, the cabin filter will be operational again. Now replacing the cabin filter "Kalina" will not take a very long time. At least in the next six months, you can safely forget about the dirty air and smells inside the car.
