Freya in Old Norse and Germanic mythology is the goddess of passion and love, spring and fertility. She is a vivid expression of feminism: beautiful, proud, strong and brave. After the adoption of Christianity, all her virgin and feminine features passed to the Virgin Mary, and the dark sides, such as aggressiveness and magical abilities, turned to witches.
Freya's Beauty
There were legends about her. The fair-haired, blue-eyed goddess Freyja had many admirers. From her simultaneously gentle and bright beauty, both mortals and representatives of the celestial pantheon went crazy . Being the object of desire, Freya skillfully used innate sexuality, playing with those who laid eyes on her. She turned one of the fans, Otar, into a wild boar, to always keep him with her.
Despite this, she had a husband whom she adored: the god of sunlight, Aude. When he went on long trips, Freya mourned him with golden tears. The goddess gave birth to two beautiful daughters from her husband: Khnos - a "gem", Gersimi - a "treasure".
Freya often rode in a chic chariot in which she harnessed two cats. The goddess's greatest jewel is the Briesmanhamen amber necklace. Received from dwarfs - representatives of the four elements - it is the fifth element in which the Earth, Water, Fire and Air are compared. The necklace symbolizes natural cycles. With it, you can control the elements.
Freya and One
They became allies. Freya made a deal with the supreme god of the German and Scandinavian pantheons: she shares her wisdom with him, and in return he gives her the right to take half of the dead soldiers from the battlefield. And even in this business agreement she uses her charms: having bewitched Odin with unearthly beauty, Freya got the opportunity to lead the fallen brave men first. As a result, she always got the best. It was believed that the goddess Freya could determine the fate of still living men. If she liked someone, she specifically pushed him to certain death in order to take her to her kingdom. There, the soldiers gained a new life: I celebrate, full of pleasures and pleasures. So that they were not bored, the goddess did not refuse refuge and women. Therefore, the wives of knights often came to the battlefield to kill themselves: they believed that in this way they were reunited with their beloved, enslaved goddess.

As we see, being the patroness of love, Freya was not always affectionate and tender. She also loved weapons, blood and mass battles. At the head of the Valkyries, she went to the battlefield, where she made her choice. Often she was depicted in chain mail and a helmet, with a spear and a shield in her hands, so Freya is the goddess of love and war, no matter how strange this combination may seem.
Patroness of Witchcraft
Freya is also considered the goddess of magic Seidr: the word translates as “boiling”, means the play of blood in the veins with strong excitement. Women were usually engaged in this type of witchcraft; for men, such an occupation was considered low and unworthy. Rituals were accompanied by a clouding of consciousness, which is probably why the warriors avoided such a practice, considering it a manifestation of weakness. For them, drinking beer and wine in large quantities was more appropriate: in this way it was not a shame to demonstrate a loss of self-control.
The goddess Freya is a master at witchcraft transformations. Usually it appears in the form of a falcon, so the plumage of a bird is always present in its outfit. In addition, it indicates not only her tendency to become a werewolf, but also her ability to change sex. After all, the falcon traditionally symbolizes the masculine beginning.
Beautiful things and goodies Freya loves. The goddess loves when she is presented with honey, fruits, sweets, pastries, good wines, flowers, precious stones. She is not indifferent to handmade products, especially if the craftswoman put all her soul and skill into them.
Freya - the goddess of love
This is her main commitment. It controls the sexuality and sensuality of women, gives them the ability to get the most out of carnal pleasures. When the charm and attraction of the opposite sex reaches its peak, every mortal is considered the goddess of love. In Scandinavia, they still say that Freya moved into such a girl. The goddess first causes desire, when it goes into physical closeness, the continuation of the genus follows. Thanks to her, a new life is emerging.

In the Middle Ages, the goddess Freyja was considered the patroness of love songs and serenades. The troubadours dedicated their musical creations to her. As for the ancient Germans, they even named the day of the week in honor of the goddess: Freitag - Friday. He was considered as happy as possible for starting a new relationship, marriage, conception. People still say that Friday is perfect for matchmaking. Also on this day, it is recommended to begin treatment of diseases. Starting a course of therapy on Friday is a guarantee of quick and easy healing.
How else was the goddess revered
In honor of Freya, they organized mass celebrations. In the Scandinavian countries, especially in Sweden, they celebrated the Dis holiday, dedicated to the goddess. They celebrated it on the full moon in mid-October: this is how people met the long winter. Feasts were organized on this occasion: tables were bursting with pork dishes, fruits and wine. The whole community took part in the feasts, which until the morning did not get tired of having fun, singing and dancing.
Interestingly, in Northern Europe the most beautiful flowers are called Freyja's hair. Amber found in the sea or a randomly dug piece of gold in the mountains was considered a blessing. The goddess Freya, granting a tear to her person who fell and turned into a jewel, took patronage over him, promising love and bliss.
The Scandinavians believed that Freya loved fairies. She could spend hours enjoying their fun games and graceful dances in the moonlight. For these tiny creatures, the goddess left as a gift sweet nectar and the most fragrant flowers. To achieve Freyja’s location, ceremonies were held. In this way, they tried to colorize life with a palette with notes of sexuality and carnal pleasure.
Rite to attract passion
This is a very simple ritual, like all similar rituals for the goddess. Freya after it will surely bring new sensory sensations into your daily life. To complete the ceremony, build an altar: cover it with a red cloth, put a candle of the same scarlet color and any amber jewelry. Then light the sandalwood incense and lay the red ribbon or cord. Make a circle opposite the altar. Red ribbons are also suitable for its construction.
At the beginning of the ritual, be sure to call for help all four elements: each separately. Then say these words: “Freya, the great goddess, Queen of the Valkyries, I call you at this hour.
