Lucifer. This name is familiar to us from childhood. Our beloved grandparents scared us, claiming that for all our sins (disobedience to parents) this evil uncle will then torment us in hell. We were afraid, obeyed our parents and grew up. And then many wondered who Lucifer was and why he needed to be afraid. There are many answers to this question, each of which is interesting in its own way and has its own fascinating history.
If you ask who Lucifer is with the same grandparents, then they are likely to tell an old biblical legend. According to this legend, the Lord, after creating the Earth and everything that is on it, decided to finally rest. But he was lonely, so he decided to create a company for himself - angels. For a while, everyone was happy: the Lord was resting, the angels played the harps. But at some point, one of them came up with the idea that each of the angels could be in the place of the Lord. His name was Archangel Lucifer. And he decided to seize power over the world with those who listened to him. War broke out in heaven, and after a while the Lord triumphed, and since he was merciful, none of the rebels died. They were granted forgiveness, but they were driven out of heaven for their rebellion. They settled underground, where Lucifer founded his kingdom - hell. Later, all sinners were sent there so that the angels, turning into devils, would tear their anger at them.
It is noteworthy that in the Bible itself there is no mention of this story, nor is there any mention of who Lucifer is. There is a place where Jesus meets the devil in the middle of the desert, but again there is no name. But there is indicated the sign of Lucifer or the devil's number - 666. Well, and the explanation of what it means. True, it is so foggy that apparently it is not destined to understand his uninitiated person.
By the way, many incidents are connected with this number. The Bible says that "the number is human." This was the reason for the "fitting" of a terrible figure to celebrities and politicians. Enigma lovers and Bible scholars have used numerology and one of the principles of Kabbalah - each symbol corresponds to a certain number. There was no limit to their glee when the names of Hitler and Stalin fell under this number, but when the "stars" of pop music, acting presidents and politicians began to fall under it, there was much less joy. They could not give a definite answer that this is a secret message to humanity that carries meaning, or the result of an annoying mistake?
There is another theory on who Lucifer is. There is no doubt that he is an angel, because his name is translated from Latin - "carrying light." Probably, someone really did not like the fact that this angel was paid too much attention, and then they decided to fix it. So the angel became the devil and acquired the corresponding appearance: instead of wings covered with feathers - leathery, and his head was crowned with horns. Then, most likely, the legend of a great war in heaven was invented. Such a transformation began to succeed: Lucifer gradually became afraid. Or maybe this story was invented just to show how bad it is not to follow biblical covenants - is unknown. Everything is too foggy and it seems that the solution has been lost in time.
