During preventive examinations, approximately twenty percent of women of childbearing age are diagnosed with a pathology such as cervical bending. Not all women, having heard such a diagnosis, begin treatment, because, most often, this pathology does not cause any unpleasant sensations. However, the incorrect position of the uterus can cause problems with conception, so this diagnosis should not be ignored.
The uterus is a hollow organ that is suspended in a small pelvis on the ligaments. Normally, the uterus is located in the center of the pelvis, and its bottom is directed up and forward, while the cervix, that is, its vaginal part, is directed down and back, that is, to the back the wall of the vagina. The angle between the body and the cervix is ββnormally more than ninety degrees. But for various reasons, the position of the uterus can be changed, then we are talking about such a pathology as the bend of the cervix.
This arrangement of organs can be an individual feature of the anatomical structure of the body, however, most often, it is formed during life under the influence of a variety of reasons.
What factors can provoke a cervical bend? This is, first of all, inflammatory diseases - adnexitis, endometritis. Various adhesions, the presence of cysts and tumors on the pelvic organs. In addition, excessive physical exertion, constant constipation (especially in childhood), and frequent childbirth contribute to the formation of the pathological arrangement of organs. Bending the uterus back often occurs in adolescent girls, due to the compliance of the uterine tissue and the underdevelopment of the reproductive apparatus. The risk of such a pathology in adolescence increases in the presence of intestinal diseases, which result in frequent constipation.
Symptoms that indicate a cervical bend can be expressed implicitly, most women do not even realize that they have such a pathology. However, some patients complain of sore menstruation, pain during intercourse, as well as irregular cycles and heavy periods.
If the bend of the uterus is not very pronounced, then problems with conception, as a rule, do not arise, but if the bend is very pronounced, penetration of sperm into the uterus becomes impossible, therefore, fertilization of the egg does not occur.
However, do not despair, pregnancy with a bend of the uterus is quite possible. First of all, the doctor will try to find and eliminate the cause that led to this arrangement of the internal organs. To do this, you may have to treat the inflammatory processes present in the small pelvis, take a course aimed at resorption of adhesions. For this, physiotherapy is recommended for patients; resort therapy and mud therapy give a good effect.
A mandatory part of the treatment will be special gymnastics and gynecological massage. These procedures are aimed at strengthening the muscles of the pelvic floor, which contributes to the correct location of the internal organs.
After the bend is removed, some patients are prescribed temporary wearing pessaries - special devices that will hold the uterus in position.
With a fixed bend, you sometimes have to resort to surgery. As a rule, they resort to an operative treatment method if the patient is tormented by severe pain, and conservative methods do not give an effect.
To get pregnant when the uterus is bent, patients are recommended certain postures for sexual intercourse. For example, in the knee-elbow position, the cervix mixes toward the center, therefore, the chance of sperm penetrating the uterus increases. In addition, immediately after completion of sexual intercourse, a woman is recommended to lie down on her stomach for several minutes or take the birch pose with her legs and pelvis raised. These provisions also contribute to the penetration of sperm into the uterine cavity and increase the chance of conception.
