The railway college in Yekaterinburg is the successor to the factory apprenticeship school, organized in 1930, after the construction of the strategically important Sverdlovsk-Sortirovochnaya station. After the war, FZU was reformed into FZO No. 15 (factory-training school).

In 1963, the Federal Labor Law received a higher status of the city vocational school (GPTU No. 61). The quality of education has significantly improved, the volume of classes has increased: the training period from 6-10 months has increased to 1.5-2 years. In 1978, the institution was renamed SPTU No. 61 - it became possible for former eighth-graders to receive not only technical, but also complete secondary education. In the same year, a railway college in Yekaterinburg acquired a new spacious building. Bilimbaevskaya street became the site of the building with locksmith and electrical workshops, grinding and mechanical departments.

1991 was the starting point of a new phase of the institution. The vocational school has become a lyceum. And in 2005 - a technical school.

Classes are held with the students of the technical school according to the life safety program, conversations, lectures and briefings on the behavior on water bodies in the swimming season and on ice, as well as on actions during terrorist acts.
