The danger of car theft in our time is quite high, so the vast majority of motorists are thinking about measures that will make it impossible to steal a car or at least create additional difficulties for an attacker. This will help to gain time, which is so dear to the hijacker, and make him abandon his plans.
To do this, a whole complex of anti-theft devices is installed on the car, including the installation of a hood lock. As you know, the engine compartment is very important. Often there are, among other things, the main details of the anti-theft device, such as
a control unit and a siren, so the hijacker seeks to get there as soon as possible to turn off the car alarm. Installing a hood lock makes access difficult.
Bonnet locks come in two types: electromechanical and simply mechanical. Each of them has both its advantages and disadvantages. Electromechanical can be called more complex and require frequent maintenance for stable operation, but they are more reliable than mechanical. Reliability gives them that they are opened by means of an electric drive with a signal from the key fob, while a key is used to open mechanical locks, which means that it can be opened using bumping.
So, we will name the main reasons why hood protection is necessary:
- Does not allow mute the car alarm siren that the hijacker is tryingto do first, so as not to attract attention. In most cases, car thefts, in an unsuccessful attempt to turn off the alarm, the hijacker ceases to act.
- It does not make it possible to unlock the engine with the installed locks under the hood, where they are more reliably protected than in the cabin.
- Locking the hood, even with the help of various devices used by hijackers, such as autonomous power, a universal ignition module and special control systems, will not allow you to start and steal a car.
- Installing the hood lock on European car brands closes access to the diagnostic connector, through which it is easy to find the locked circuit and unlock it, as well as replace the engine control controller, also located under the hood.
- On Japanese car brands, such as Nissan and Huyndai, installation of the hood lock is simply necessary if the gearbox is locked. The design of the gearbox on these cars allows you to engage the gear from under the open hood without touching the lock of the gear lever, which makes its installation pointless.
- The monoblock car alarm installed under the hood can simply be turned off with a key or by turning the monoblock larva, thereby disabling the security system.
- And, of course, the installed hood lock does not allow the hijacker to profit from the parts and components of the car in case of an unsuccessful attempt to steal, if he managed to get under the hood of the car.
To install the lock on the hood, we would advise you to turn to professionals, as this is a rather complicated process, as well as its selection for a particular brand of car. Saving on specialists, you can simply lose the car, because the handicraft installation of the lock creates only the appearance of car security and a minimum of problems for the hijacker.
