The laptop certainly has an advantage over the desktop in that it can be used almost anywhere. But, as we know, in this world there is nothing eternal, unfortunately. This also applies to the battery. Sooner or later, the time comes when it is recommended to replace the laptop battery. When it comes, one cannot say for sure. It all depends on the intensity of use, as well as the correctness. The battery can exhaust itself in a year, and last about four to five years.
It is worth noting that batteries are also different. For example, there are lithium, and there are nickel. The former are able to serve much longer than the latter. Since, due to its characteristics, in the case of nickel batteries, a battery replacement in a laptop will be required earlier. But lithium can "age" on its own, without even being used. And the nickels must be fully discharged, and only then charged, also completely. Otherwise, a significant part of the source capacity may be lost.
To extend battery life, it is not recommended that you keep it fully charged and plugged into an electrical outlet. Many laptops have special software that allows you to charge the battery up to fifty to eighty percent, after which charging stops. In this case, replacing the laptop battery will be significantly delayed. If your model does not support such software, then it makes sense to discharge the battery up to thirty percent and remove it from the laptop (this applies to cases when you use the power supply for a long time).
If the laptop has been operating for less than half an hour from the moment of full charge, it is recommended to replace the battery. Otherwise, you risk losing unsaved data and even invalidating the operating system. The same goes for battery swelling. If you find the presence of these symptoms - it is also recommended to replace the battery. This suggests that it can be closed and completely fail at any moment. Treat this power source with care, avoid mechanical damage, and do not use the device in very hot conditions or in the open sun. The same goes for low temperatures.
