Barnaul Teachers College is located in the capital of the Altai Territory, is a state budget educational institution of secondary vocational education. The institution has the title of an innovative platform in the system of basic professional education of the region.
Story
In 1915, the first institution engaged in the training of future teachers, the Barnaul Teachers' Seminary, was opened in Barnaul, classes in which began only in 1921.
In 1937, the institution was given the name of a pedagogical school, by this time 27 people were teaching in it in two areas - school and preschool. Soon, branches began to open in large settlements of the Altai Territory, but in wartime the building was given over to the hospital. From 1956 to 1962, the pedagogical school moved to Rubtsovsk because of the policies of the Ministry of Education, which considered that the institutes could independently cope with the training of teachers.
However, in 1962, this decision was revised, and the pedagogical school resumed its work in the city of Barnaul. From this moment, various improvements in the organization begin - the best teachers are invited, new programs are developed, a museum of the BPU is created.
In 1992, by order of the Ministry of Education of Russia, the school was renamed Barnaul Pedagogical College. In 2003, there is a division into 6 areas of study:
- Elementary classes.
- Preschool education.
- Jurisprudence.
- Humanitarian education.
- Information Technology.
- Musical education.
Management and staff
In 2015, the pedagogical college has an anniversary of 100 years, during which time a large number of leaders managed to change, and since 2011 it has been headed by Mikhail Borisovich Samoletov.
The teaching staff consists of highly qualified personnel:
- 5 teachers have the title of Honored Teacher;
- 59 people have departmental awards;
- 7 people have degrees.

Form of training
Educational services are provided in full-time and part-time. Recruitment takes place both at the expense of allocated funds from the regional budget (free of charge), and under contracts for the provision of educational services on a paid basis.
The term of study depends on the chosen form of training and the student’s existing education (incomplete secondary, general secondary).
In 2018, there were from 2 to 8 applicants for one place, the number of full-time applicants was 521, of which:
- 200 - to budget places;
- 321 - under the contract.
In part-time education in 2018, 175 people were enrolled in the Altai Pedagogical College of Barnaul. The total number of applicants was 696, and the total number of students was 1,785.

- Applied Informatics. Specialty in diploma: software technician.
- Programming and information systems, qualification: programmer.
- Law enforcement activities. Qualification: lawyer.

- Special preschool education. Education for persons with a diploma of incomplete secondary education - 46 months. The qualification of a teacher of children with developmental disabilities and with the safe development of preschool age is awarded.
- Correctional pedagogy in primary education. Education for persons with a diploma of incomplete secondary education - 46 months. The qualification of the teacher of primary grades of compensating and correctional-developing education is awarded.
- Adaptive physical education. Qualification: teacher of adaptive physical education.
- Musical education. Education is provided for graduates of the 9th grade - three years ten months. Qualification: music teacher, music director.
- Fine art and sketching. Training is provided for graduates of the 9th grade - 46 months. Qualification: teacher of drawing and fine arts.
Distance learning at Barnaul Teachers College is carried out in the following specialties:
- Law enforcement activities. Qualification: lawyer.
- Preschool education. Qualification: kindergarten teacher.
- Primary school education. Qualification: primary school teacher.
- Physical Culture. Qualification: physical education teacher.
Correspondence education is provided only for persons with full secondary education.
Infrastructure
Currently, the Barnaul Teachers College has two educational buildings, a sports complex, a library, a reading room, computer classes, its own internal local area network, and is connected to the Internet. Also has its own assembly hall, concert hall, dining room, outdoor sports ground.
Nonresident students are given the opportunity to stay in any of the two dormitories for 490 places, in which there are:
