Enamel-sealing liquid is an effective tool used to protect teeth from diseases and to restore damaged areas of tooth enamel. We will tell more about its composition and method of application later in the article.
The essence of the fluorination procedure
Fluoridation is a procedure for applying various fluids containing fluoride compounds to tooth enamel to prevent caries and demineralization of the tooth surface. Due to fluorination, a peculiar sealing of small defects of the enamel surface occurs, due to which the bacteria that provoke the development of caries cannot affect it. The most popular medicinal formulations for the procedure are "Gluftorad" and enamel-sealing liquid.
Substance composition
Enamel-sealing liquid is known as the dental drug Tifenfluoride. It consists of two components:
- Liquid No. 1 for initial treatment, which includes a solution of magnesium silicate fluoride with copper ions, sodium fluoride, which acts as a stabilizer and distilled water.
- Liquid No. 2 - suspension for the final processing of tooth enamel. It includes highly dispersed calcium hydroxide with methyl cellulose in distilled water.
The mechanism of action of the drug
As a result of the phased application and the combined action of two types of liquid, microcrystals are formed, which form a strong protective film that helps seal the damage to the tooth surface, entrances to the dentinal tubules and enamel pores. As already mentioned, it prevents the penetration of harmful bacteria, so that the tooth enamel becomes strong and healthy, and the likelihood of tooth decay is minimized.
The thickness of the protective film is small, but quite sufficient for reliable protection of the tooth. The main advantage of the drug is that the effect of the treatment procedure is maintained for a long time, while the result of the use of other desensitizing agents is retained for a short time due to the lack of the restoration process of the mineral composition of the tooth surface.
The copper ions included in the preparation have bactericidal properties. Due to this, there is an obstacle to the formation of a microbial film on the tooth surface, and pulp and dentin are protected when bacteria enter.
Indications for use
Enamel-dentin-sealing liquid is developed in Germany. Indications for use of the drug are:
- prevention of various carious formations;
- treatment of erosion of teeth in the active stage;
- desensitization of the neck of the tooth;
- remineralization of tooth enamel;
- spot caries treatment;
- prevention of non-carious formations of tooth enamel;
- applying a film to an uneven tooth surface in order to protect it from damage and damage (sealing fissures);
- hypersensitivity of teeth.
The action of the drug prevents the appearance of secondary caries. It is recommended to use it when wearing orthodontic structures, since the active ingredients of the drug reliably protect tooth enamel from damage.
Contraindications
Enamel-sealing liquid has no contraindications. The use of medicinal fluids does not contribute to the occurrence of side effects, therefore, the use of the drug is acceptable for strengthening tooth enamel in young children with a physician.
In addition, it is recommended to use Tiefenfluorid enamel-sealing liquid to prevent demineralization of the tooth surface and maintain a strong tooth structure in pregnant women, as well as in individuals subject to hormonal changes (during adolescence, during pregnancy and breastfeeding).
Experts recommend drinking a large amount of water or milk if one of the drugs is swallowed. As an antidote, it is recommended to use liquid gypsum milk.
Stages of the procedure
Many dentists use enamel-sealing liquid in their practice. The instruction manual for the drug is very simple. Fluoridation Procedure Using the Named Agent consists of several steps following each other:
- First, the dentist cleans the patientβs tooth surface from plaque and stones. Then thoroughly dries the oral cavity.
- Then the doctor applies liquid No. 1 to the enamel.
- After 1 minute, the tooth surface is treated with liquid No. 2.
The waiting time after applying the first drug can be reduced to 30 seconds. After applying the second component, the doctor thoroughly rinses the patient's oral cavity. After medical manipulation, there is no need to drain the teeth. The patient is immediately allowed to eat.
To maintain the effect of the treatment procedure, it is recommended to carry out manipulation 1-2 times a year. In the fight against hypersensitivity of the tooth surface, enamel treatment procedures should be carried out 3-4 times a year, every 3-4 months.
Use efficiency
Experts note the high efficiency of the enamel-sealing liquid. Reviews about the use of this tool, mainly indicate that regular use of the drug in 95% of cases leads to the protection of the teeth from the onset of fissure caries. And the problem of tooth hypersensitivity leaves 85% of patients. In addition, with regular use of the drug in many patients, restoration of damaged areas of tooth enamel is observed. In particular, the effect of the drug contributes to the disappearance of the chalk stain.
