Installation of the skirting board is the last and perhaps the most enjoyable stage of floor repair. At first glance, this work may seem quite simple. However, unexpected difficulties are encountered here. What material to choose? What tool will be needed? How to mark and install the floor skirting?
We will answer these and other questions on the example of a plastic plinth Cezar (Poland). The style, shape and width of the strips in this case are not interesting to us. Let us dwell on the design features.
Kinds
According to the mounting method, floor-standing products of this manufacturer are divided into two types: with and without a cable channel (βdeafβ). To ensure invisible fixation of the dull skirting, use special clips and glue.
To install floor PVC skirting board with a cable channel, any additional fasteners are not required - ordinary dowels or self-tapping screws are enough.
Mounting tool
To fasten the Polish PVC skirting board you will need:
- saw and miter box for cutting;
- screwdriver;
- drill (perforator);
- screws, dowels;
- special glue (if products with the type of attachment to the adhesive base are selected).
Preliminary calculations
To calculate the required footage, you need to know the total size of the room (as a rule, the length of all sides of the room is summed up). From the amount received, the length of the doorways is subtracted and 1-1.5 m is added for the stock.
In addition to the main material, it is necessary to calculate the number of external corners, plugs, brackets and couplings. The complete set of accessories that you will need to install Cezar floor skirting on the floor can be found on the website http://disoul.ru/plintus/cezar-elegance .
Marking, preparation and installation of material
The first stage is the markup. Mounting locations are outlined at the bottom of the wall. If the floor and walls are even, the bar is fastened in increments of up to 40 cm. Otherwise, fastenings are performed more often, taking into account the existing curvature of the walls.
It is better to start marking the baseboard from the corner of the longest wall in the room. This approach will allow you to get a minimum of scraps, and therefore save money on building material. The remaining cut pieces are usually used to stroke support columns, niches, and short wall sections.
The second stage is cutting profiles. It is not recommended to use a grinder or a jigsaw to cut Cesar skirting boards. It is better to give preference to the usual hacksaw for metal - with this tool the cut is more even and accurate.
The final stage is installation. You should start from the corner along the long wall of the room. In the designated places, holes are drilled under the dowels. An inner corner is put on the profile (you can put it on glue), after which the strip itself is screwed around the entire perimeter. After installation, the hardware is snapped in, and the ends are closed at the open ends with plugs.
As a rule, a wide PVC skirting board does not have a cable channel, or the design involves mounting on strips or glue. It should also be remembered that the planks should be fixed to the wall, and not to the floor.
