Tesla Model X, or future technology today

Tesla Motors is a one-of-a-kind American car manufacturer. The hallmark of the company are new computer technologies and the latest developments in the field of technology. Tesla Motors is the brainchild of the founders of Google: Larry Page and Sergey Brin. They believe that the future is in electric vehicles, so the company has been developing exclusively electric vehicles.

A start

The first-born of the company was the Tesla Roadster. Experts immediately said that the car was waiting for failure, but he managed not only to "survive", but also to become the world's first mass electric car. Despite the huge price for American standards, he found his buyer. The electrified miniature Lotus, which was 2 times more expensive than the Porshe Cayenne, found understanding among environmentalists. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California, spoke positively about the car. Nothing strange, because anyone, no matter how he knows, is aware of the deplorable ecological state of California.

Following the roadster, the company released the Model S liftback. It was on its platform that the โ€œsensationalโ€ model of Tesla Motors, Model X, was built.

In the domestic market

The first "eski" appeared on our roads in 2013, before the start of official sales. In many respects, it is necessary to be a supporter of โ€œgreenโ€ technologies in order to purchase such a car, since we do not have any service stations or spare parts yet. Even the car is charged about a day, because it is designed for an American voltage of 110 watts. A solution to this problem has not yet been found.

If in the USA there is a whole network of free and fast charging stations, then we do not have them at all. It is also not entirely clear how quickly the Tesla Model X battery will discharge to sub-zero temperatures.

Exterior

There are no futuristic elements in the appearance of the car: it is much like Aston Martin and even Mazda. This is because the car designer Franz Holzhauser, who completed the work of Henrik Fisker, moved to Tesla Motors from Mazda.

Compared with its counterparts, the Tesla Model X electric car is simply huge - about 5 meters in length. To call a car a hatchback does not turn the tongue, rather it is a coupe.

Interior

The car is very roomy. Under the back door there is an internal luggage compartment, where you can transport two young children: for this, two retractable seats are provided. In front, under the hood, where conventional cars have an engine, this car is empty. About 150 liters of volume are a good addition to the trunk of the Tesla Model X.

The traditional gasoline engine replaces the Panassonic lithium-ion battery pack. They just make up the most difficult part of the power plant. Subframes with a double wishbone front and multi-link are attached to it.

The compact asynchronous electric motor is located under the rear axle. On top of it they put on an aluminum body, inside of which there is a lot of free space. The developers of the model are working on an all-wheel drive version of the "eski".

To do this, they plan to install a second electric motor for the front axle in an empty space, which can only reduce the volume of the front trunk.

The absence of cardans and a standard exhaust system in the Tesla Model X made it possible to make the floor under the feet of passengers even. It should be noted that the battery compartment significantly reduces the height, and therefore there is some discomfort in the back rows: there is clearly not enough space above the heads. Despite this, there is enough room for passengers' legs, and the sofa in the cabin is fully triple.

For the sake of this, the central armrest with cup holders was removed from behind. Spaciousness emphasizes the superiority over conventional Tesla Model X electric car vehicles. The interior photo is proof of this.

The interior is trimmed with leather and carbon fiber panels. โ€œEskiโ€ is produced at a robotic plant previously owned by Toyota and General Motors, so the build quality is at a high level.

Behind the wheel

On the driver's seat is very unusual: around a minimum of buttons, levers. In place of the central tunnel, there is a huge tray above which there is a 17-inch touch screen running on a Linux operating system with an Nvidia Tegra processor. The company does not neglect the use of smartphone technology. The responsiveness of the screen is excellent, to the envy of most automakers.

Using the display, the driver can control almost all Tesla Model X systems, namely: adjusting the temperature in the cabin, turning on the headlights, adjusting the steering force, panoramic roof, recovery level, air suspension. The latter system is offered as an option. The standard vehicle clearance is 152 mm, and with the help of the suspension it can be increased by 22-23 mm or reduced by 20 mm. At speeds above 30 km / h, the ride height will automatically return to its standard position, and at high speeds, the suspension will lower by 20 mm.

Acceleration of an electric car is 4.2 seconds to "weave". The top engine with a capacity of 310 kW (416 hp) immediately reaches a maximum of 600 Nm, and a 2-ton car starts off briskly. The acceleration of the car is linear, which is very strange for electric vehicles. Given that all this happens under complete silence, you feel a little strange. Only the roar of rubber and the sound of the headwind are heard. The maximum speed of the Tesla Model X is only 210 km / h, which is explained by the specifics of the electric motor.

Recovery after a gas discharge is rather sharp, but it can be adjusted. Compared to other electric vehicles, intense acceleration on the "esque" does not reduce the range by 10-20 km. The official power reserve with an 85 kWh battery is 265 miles (427 km). Using climate control and driving at high speeds will reduce it to 200 km, which is also not bad at all.
