Beer: benefits and harms

One of the most popular alcoholic beverages in the world is beer. The benefits and harms of it are not yet fully understood. There are a huge number of opinions, beliefs and prejudices about this. It is clear that true beer lovers will not refuse it under any circumstances, but still I would like to figure out what of all that we know about the foamy drink is true and what is not.

Among the oldest drinks invented by people, everyone without the slightest doubt will name beer. The benefit and harm of it were still of interest to our ancestors. But they were not inclined to see the negative aspects in such a wonderful liquid, and therefore in Europe for centuries they drank beer on every corner, almost instead of water. In fairness, it is worth noting that the beer of that time was still very different from modern options that filled the shelves of supermarkets.

Modern science is able to give answers to any questions, the effect of various doses of alcohol on the human body has been thoroughly studied. Why are people still quite calmly and even happy to drink beer? The benefits and harms of this drink seem to excite only scientists, yet the rest are easily ready to trust very common myths. So, let's figure it out.

Firstly, based on the fact that beer belongs to low-alcohol drinks, people believe that you can drink it as much as you like, especially since its composition includes entirely natural products that not only do not harm, but even bring benefits.

However, it should be borne in mind that most of these “utilities” decay during fermentation, and what is formed as a result is often the most real poison of delayed action. And, by the way, they get used to beer much faster than to vodka. A person may not even be aware that this happened when he drinks the obligatory evening bottle.

Secondly, one can often hear allegations that beer is just a storehouse of vitamins. Many tend to perceive this as a guide to action, because drinking a foamy drink is much nicer than obscure pills. Especially diligent even calculated that you need to drink exactly a liter! per day.
Well, we admit that there is some truth in this statement. Yes, beer is not without some vitamins, especially the so-called live beer. Its use, however, is very conditional. In order to get a daily dose of vitamin B1, you need to drink as much as ten! liters of foam, and not a drop less. Do not you think that it is much more useful to eat a plate of buckwheat with vegetables.

Thirdly, especially zealous fans of beer believe that it is useful for almost all organs, both individually and together.
For example, the heart. If you drink beer regularly, a person runs the risk of earning an early heart attack, not to mention shortness of breath and varicose veins.

The kidneys when drinking beer supposedly better remove toxins from the body. Sorry, but frequent trips to the toilet, which invariably accompany any libation, do not contribute to cleansing. The body loses just the necessary and very valuable elements, for example, magnesium, potassium and proteins with fats.

As for the brain, there is nothing to say about beer. The benefits and harms of it are not even discussed in this case. Alcohol uniquely and irrevocably destroys its cells.

There is another hidden danger that lies in the certainty of how great the benefits of beer are. For men, it turns into the well-known “beer belly” and at first less noticeable changes in the figure, which is becoming more feminine. In women, everything happens exactly the opposite. And this is due to phytoestrogen, a substance related to female hormones.

For loyal fans of beer, I would like to note at the end that it still happens to be different. If you choose high-quality products of manufacturers with world-famous names and an infallible reputation, as well as know the measure in terms of quantity, beer, if it does not bring any benefit, it certainly will not do any harm.
