First of all, battery maintenance is a banal control of the level of electrolyte (special liquid). It should be clearly understood that timely measures taken are already half the battle. In the case when the electrolyte level is below the mark, it should simply be added to the prescribed level. If the body of the unit is transparent, then it most likely contains the minimum and maximum levels. If the case is opaque, then it is worth unscrewing all the covers of the unit in turn and checking the level with a special tube (sold together with other devices for battery maintenance). The level should be between 10 and 15 mm.
Servicing a car battery should be carried out with extreme caution, since it is necessary to work with especially hazardous chemicals ( sulfuric acid is included ) .Where it is necessary to rinse the places where the liquid has spilled with plenty of water. The next thing to do is to check the density of the internal fluid. This should be done only two hours after its topping with an aerometer.
Battery maintenance includes recharging. Before the procedure, you should remove the battery from the car, connect a special charger, unscrew the covers from all the blocks. During charging, observe safety precautions, check the temperature of the electrolyte and its density. Correct the amperage according to the battery capacity .
Systematically check the unit for integrity. There should be no cracks or bulges on the body. Maintenance of the battery requires a banal wipe from the accumulated dirt and dust. Check his condition every 15,000 km, this will help you save money and not be in a stalemate.
