Intending to purchase a Renault Duster, many customers are considering a diesel, since this version of this French crossover has turned out to be very successful. But buy diesel engines is far from all. This is due primarily to the fact that the price of Renault Duster (diesel) will be significantly higher than for a car of a similar configuration, but with a gasoline engine. However, a similar situation is typical for any brand - diesel engines have always been and are more expensive.
If we talk about the advantages of Renault Duster (diesel), then the most striking advantage for the buyer will be fuel consumption, which can not be compared with any gasoline model. According to reviews of real owners of diesel versions of the crossover, it quietly fits into 5 liters of diesel fuel per every hundred. The resource of these engines with proper operation is also quite decent (by the way, the gasoline engines installed on Renault are also considered one of the most reliable).
But diesel Duster also has a number of disadvantages. The first is the excessive noise of the motor inherent in most engines running on a solarium. This is not to say that Duster has too much noisy diesel - it can be worse. But by ear, you can easily determine that the
car is diesel. However, the main drawback of this engine during operation in the CIS countries is the lack of high-quality fuel in the market. This is the trouble of all diesel engines that are operated on domestic roads. Low-quality diesel fuel leads to the rapid failure of fairly expensive fuel equipment, and the economical Renault Duster (diesel) begins to prettyly gut its owner’s wallet.
To avoid such inconveniences and troubles will help the constant use of good additives and proven refueling (although they sometimes come across frankly bad fuel). Diesel is much more sensitive to fuel quality than gasoline engines, so they suffer much more often and more seriously. In winter, the situation is exacerbated, especially in those regions where the temperature is below 30 degrees. Renault Duster, the diesel of which simply does not start in such conditions (like any other diesel engine), is unsuitable for the Russian winter (at higher temperatures below zero, it will take a long time to warm it up).
To the problems associated with fuel quality and operation, it is worth adding the high cost of repairing diesel engines,
oil consumption, which will be much higher than that of the gasoline version, as well as the smell of diesel fuel that will haunt the owner at gas stations.
Renault Duster car, in both diesel and gasoline versions, can be both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The number of additional options available in both versions is also the same. True, the diesel engine is not yet equipped with an automatic gearbox (the manufacturer explains this by the fact that the automatic machine increases fuel consumption, and diesel is purchased in order to save it), but it is possible that in the foreseeable future such configurations will also appear.
None of the above problems stops many fans of diesel engines, and they still buy diesel, which they have every right to do. What is better to choose: economy or comfort, low fuel consumption or cheaper repairs - it is up to the buyer. Always for the sake of one advantage, you have to sacrifice something else, you just need to correctly prioritize, then the choice will be right.
