Pickup Nissan Navara - SUT class car, which translates as "sports utility truck". First generation
Nissan Navara debuted at international auto shows in 1997 as an authentic model. He replaced on the assembly line the honored "senior citizen" Pickup Datsun Hardbody Trucks, whose pedigree dates back to the 1930s. In some regions, the car is also known under the names Frontier and NP300.
Compared to the Datsun Hardbody, the car was distinguished by some technical improvements (although the base as a whole remained similar) and a radically redesigned design. If the predecessor was more like a commercial mini-truck with a separate body, then Navara is already a family assistant with a modern design and a single body in two- and four-door versions. Dimensions to match the pickup: width - 1.85 m; length - 5.22 m; height - 1.77 m; ground clearance - 239 mm.
In Europe, the first Nissan Navara D22 generations were equipped with six types of engines (VG33E, QD32, ZD30DDT, YD25DDTi, KA24DE, KA24E) with a volume of 2.4-3.3 liters. The most common was the modification with a 3.2-liter 75-kilowatt power unit. In the US market, Navara was equipped with a 2.4-liter KA24E I4 engine. In February 2003, a 3.3-liter VG33E V6 appeared. In North America in 2001 there was a restyling of the model.
Second generation
In 2004, Nissan Navara was significantly redesigned. The design clearly shows the continuity of generations, but the dimensions have grown significantly: the length of the body exceeded 5.5 meters. The updated truck is based on the new Nissan F-Alpha platform and has a fully-boxed staircase frame. The wheelbase is 3.2 m, load capacity almost reaches 3 tons.
The standard engine of Nissan Navara is A 4.0L VQ-family V6 (VQ40DE), it produces 261 liters. from. (195 kW) and 381 Nm of torque. The QR25DE four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 152 liters is also available. from. (113 kW) and 232 Nm. The standard six-speed manual control can be replaced by an “automatic” at 5 speeds. Nissan Navara with internal code D40 was introduced in March 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show. It looks like a Pathfinder SUV, but it is a pickup version. Two cars have a common technical base and use interchangeable parts. "Navara" has a frame structure, an independent front suspension with wishbones and a rear rigid axle with leaf springs.
The engine is a 2.5-liter common rail diesel engine with variable turbine geometry. The motor provides the car with a force of 174 liters. from. (128 kW) with a torque of 403 Nm. A little later, the power plant was modified in favor of fuel economy, while the power fell slightly - up to 171 liters. from. On world markets, there is also a modification with a V6 gasoline engine with a volume of 4 liters (269 hp).
Restyling
By the end of 2007, the Navara model was modernized. Two new color options became available, alloy wheels converted to more fashionable. Side turn signals are moved from the wings to the exterior mirrors. The interior used better materials and fabrics. The Bluetooth speakerphone kit is now available for all versions. Options increased to four options:
- XE (basic package).
- SE (comfort).
- LE (luxury).
- White Elements (special version).
The most interesting is the last option, designed for lovers of skiing. The modification includes equipment for fastening and transporting skis, winter tires with exclusive black 17-inch alloy wheels, a box for storing sports equipment. Inside, heated seats are trimmed in black leather. For an additional fee, it was possible to install a representative package with a DVD navigation system, MP3-CD-radio and voice recognition system.
In 2008, the “platinum” finish option was added to the LE configuration with a double cab. It includes heated and electrically adjustable leather seats, a Bose sound system, a DVD navigation system with rear-view camera, a glass sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels and various Gun Metal Gray-style decorative elements.
In March 2010, the next version of the Navara was presented at the Geneva Motor Show . It features a new grille, updated headlights and a less sharp front bumper. Inside, new materials are used, and the layout of the controls in the center console has been revised. A special touch navigation system, xenon headlights and a reversing camera appeared.
The specifications of the Nissan Navara have also changed. The 2.5-liter diesel engine has been modified and now provides up to 190 liters of power. from. (140 kW), has a torque of 450 Nm and consumes an average of 8.4 liters of diesel per 100 km, which is less than the previous model. Third generation
In 2015, the Japanese company launched the Navara NP300 series, based on an updated platform. The car has undergone the greatest changes over the past decade. At the heart of the design is a staircase with an improved frontal deformation system, which has significantly improved safety. The suspension has been improved - at the rear, the traditional leaf spring system has been replaced with more durable springs located on five trailing arms.
Thanks to the efforts of the designers, the ride quality has become more comfortable, and the controls are clear. Independent tests have shown that the new suspension has a much greater degree of shock compensation, effectively “swallowing” pits, potholes, rails at level crossings. Driving on a dirt road is not much different from driving on asphalt. Despite the soft ride, the carrying capacity remains very decent:
- 880 kg for entry-level modification (DX 4 × 2);
- 930 kg - for version ST-X 4 × 4;
- 986 kg - for the "average" ST 4 × 4;
- more than 1000 kg for the flagship RX 4 × 2.
Despite the fact that the steering coefficient in corners is too “long” (about 3.75 revolutions for the ST-X and at least 4.25 revolutions for the RX with narrow 16-inch tires), the car is controlled quite accurately.
Equipment
In addition to a well-tuned chassis, the interior is significantly improved. All Navaras are already equipped with automatic headlights, cruise control, a Bluetooth telephone headset, an on-board computer, rear seats with a convertible top, a steering wheel with adjustments and controls, 4-window electric drive, 12-volt power sockets, an anti-glare interior mirror and a six-speaker CD / AM / FM audio system with USB / AUX input.
