Product Description

Shell ULTRA oil is intended for use in modern car models that can use gasoline or diesel fuel as a combustible mixture, as well as those working on natural gas. Lubrication provides maximum motor protection in all operating conditions.

The oil product is made by a complex process of synthesizing natural gas, which results in a high-quality lubricant with a crystal clear molecular structure. Shell oil for a very long period of time maintains its stable viscosity, has a minimum coefficient of evaporation, which affects its economy.

The Dutch company’s lubricating fluid is 100% full synthetic. It, in addition to the innovative proprietary manufacturing process, incorporates powerful detergents of a unique preparation. Due to cleaning capabilities, the lubricant extends the life cycle of the "heart" of the car.

Technical information

Shell oil has the following declared characteristics:

  • multigrade confirmed by SAE and is 5w40 marked;
  • the consistency viscosity during mechanical circulation at a temperature of 100 ℃ is 14.34 cSt, which is slightly thicker than similar products;
  • a high alkali content provides maximum washing properties and is 10.14 mg KOH per 1 g of oil;
  • acid value - 1.91 mg KOH per 1 g of oil;
  • the sulfate ash content is quite acceptable - 1.13%;
  • a viscosity test at a subzero temperature of 30 ℃ gave an indicator of 5113 mPas, and this suggests that the oil at this temperature will allow the engine to start with the lowest resistance;
  • ignition temperature - 242 ℃;
  • Shell's minus operating limit is 45 ℃.

The lubricant contains a friction modifier molybdenum, which will give the engine a long service life. This additive several times increases the wear resistance of the structural components of the motor.

Reviews

Reviews of Shell Helix HX8 5w40 oil in most cases have a positive connotation. Many drivers who used this lubricating fluid stated high quality, confirmed the effective cleaning properties declared by the manufacturer.

Some professional car owners conducted a series of tests, from which they revealed good thermal stability at high temperatures, obtained at the maximum possible crankshaft speed. From this follows, according to the assurances of the testers, the minimum percentage of waste. Pros quite recommend filling this lubricant both in the domestic auto industry and in foreign cars, except for those models that require the fulfillment of specifications with the index C3 and C4.
