In 2012, at the Moscow Motor Show, the attention of visitors was attracted by a new AvtoVAZ concept called Lada Xray. Technical characteristics were significantly different from previous developments of the company, changes in design and configuration were also noticeable. By the time mass production began, the car was finalized according to the results of numerous tests and test drives.
Lada Xray: the beginning of a new era
In December 2015, in Togliatti, on the main conveyor of AvtoVAZ, the serial production of the Lada Xray model began. This event occurred four months earlier than planned. Along with the Lada Vesta sedan that launched in September 2015, we can say that these models are a real breakthrough for AvtoVAZ after a stagnant period. President Andersson described the new Lada Xray hatchback (specifications meet European standards) as a world-class car. The car will go on sale in February 2016. AvtoVAZ plans to produce over 25 thousand cars per year.

The base Lada Xray is a five-door B-class front-wheel drive hatchback based on the French B0 platform. It is a development of Renault Sandero. Dimensions 4165x1764x1570 mm. The 1.6-liter powertrain from Renault-Nissan is mounted on the Lada Xray. Engine characteristics meet modern requirements, its power is 110 liters. with., which is quite enough for an urban hatchback.

The manufacturer plans to produce a car in trim levels "Economy" and "Suite". Both versions do not yet have a detailed description. In the future, it is planned to release the all-wheel drive Lada Xray Cross. Characteristics and equipment are planned to be supplemented with one and a half liter turbodiesel units, a six-speed gearbox. An addition in the form of airbags for passengers in the rear seats is also expected. They will be mounted in the backs of the front seats. This will greatly increase vehicle safety.
The new model meets all environmental requirements of the Euro-5 standard. However, in the near future, the manufacturer plans to finalize the relevant car systems, bringing the environmental compliance of Lada Xray to higher Euro-6 standards. This will open up opportunities for its marketing abroad.
