Lutheran Church of St. Paul in Vladivostok

Remember the story

The Lutheran Church of St. Paul in Vladivostok was erected at the beginning of the XIX century from 1907 to 1909. It replaced the wooden church built in 1878 by the Lutheran community on the land acquired by Otto Rein, who came from Alaska and settled in the Far East.

The project for the new building in the German Gothic style was completed by Georg Junghendel, an architect from Germany. The tree was replaced with red brick delivered from Germany. It was acquired by Kunst & Albers, under the management of Adolf Dattan.

In 1935, the Lutheran church was closed, and the premises became the property of the Navy.

15 years later, in 1950, the Museum of the Pacific Fleet was located here : expositions with weapons were arranged, a bust of Lenin was placed right on the altar, and artillery pieces were installed in the courtyard.

In 2006, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Vladivostok was filled with organ music thanks to an organ - a gift that arrived from Sydney and Melbourne (Australia). From that moment, not only church services , socially significant events , charity events , but also concerts of classical organ music began to be held in the oldest city church building . Classics accompanied by an organ in a building filled with a century of history, with excellent acoustics, makes a strong impression, regardless of religious preferences.

The Austrian organ under the vaults of the church was sounded for three years, then it was donated to the Lutherans of the city of Arsenyev, and a new organ came to replace it from Germany.

The church can accommodate about five hundred people, including about 200 seats.
