In 2006, AvtoVAZ began the first cycle of preparations for the release of a new Lada Priora model. The car, which received the index 2170, was created on the basis of the Lada-110 model, taking over the platform and engine from it. In fact, the Priora was an in-depth restyling of the tens. The design noted about a thousand changes, both superficial and fundamental. An extensive range of interior and luggage parts was transferred to Priore. Exterior "Lada Priora", clearance and many other parameters of the chassis differed from the 110th model. The doors became 5 mm wider, which forced the stamping shop of the Togliatti plant to rebuild several punches and dies. Thus, the identity of Lada-110 and Lada Priora was minimized. AvtoVAZ engineers counted over a thousand parts that distinguished the old Lada from the new, and fundamentally changed the design of the “dozens”. External attributes, moldings, alloy wheels, external door handles, front optics, taillights, hood, trunk, plumage and the entire exterior as a whole breathed novelty. The final touch of the upgrade is Kama Euro tires sized 185/65 R14.
Successful solution
The interior of the "Lada Priora", the clearance of which assumed a sufficiently high landing, was developed in the Italian city of Turin, in the engineering design studio Cancerano. The interior is dominated by the modern style of interior car design. It was possible to eliminate the shortcomings of past design developments in the interior of the 110th model. The exterior design has also undergone changes. The over-accentuated border zone between the roof and the rest of the body along the rear pillar line was abolished. The rear wheel arches of the Lada Priora have acquired a more aesthetic appearance. The continuous strip of the rear lights, which looked somewhat ridiculous on a compact car, was canceled, instead of it along the edges of the trunk lid stood two vertically developed lights that visually expanded the exterior. In general, designers managed to move away from the common image of the "antelope in position", which they called the "top ten" among the people, as soon as it appeared on Russian roads. A "Lada Prior, "the technical characteristics, clearance, wheelbase, dimensions and body contours of which indicated that a successful solution was found for the main parameters, no one doubted it.
Interior
The high level of ergonomics was also not satisfactory. Finishing materials, relatively inexpensive, but quite high quality, are combined in colors and make the interior of the car cozy and relaxing. Italian designers applied the tone of the finish in a double, layered version. The upper tier of the cabin is decorated with light materials, and the lower one is darker. There is no contrast transition between these two levels, one color replaces the other smoothly, in semitones. In fact, the entire trim is solved in a two-tone version, which creates the impression of integrity. The armrest of the driver's door is equipped with semi-automatic power window control buttons, there is also a joystick for adjusting the exterior mirrors. All buttons are made in the anti-pressure format; accidental touches will not turn them on.
Devices
Between the front seats there is a small console in the form of an armrest with two ditches for small items, which is very convenient, since usually a trifle like female hairpins scatters throughout the cabin. A lamp is mounted in the ceiling at the upper edge of the windshield, combined with a pocket for glasses. The dashboard includes all the necessary sensors, dials and a variety of indicators. Devices are located rationally, their readings are well read, and the muffled illumination of the dashboard allows you to see all the necessary information in the dark. In the center of the upper part of the dashboard is the display of the trip computer, on which you can see the odometer readings, fuel consumption parameters in several modes, average speed and time readings for several time zones.
New items
Noteworthy is the original module to the left of the steering wheel, which contains the control sensors: low and high beam, parking lights, fog lights, headlight range control lamps, and instrument lighting brightness. There is also a duplicate button that opens the luggage compartment. The main one is located under the driver’s right hand, near the gear lever. It is typical that the trunk lid can only be opened from the passenger compartment: the lock on the lid itself has been canceled, in its place - a smooth surface. The most advanced technologies have been used to seal the windshield and rear window, through which the impression of a complete monolithic fusion of the body with the windows is created.
Disadvantage
The interior in terms of space has not changed, all internal dimensions have remained the same, similar to the 110th model. The amplitude of adjustment of the front seats leaves much to be desired. The sled is clearly of insufficient length, and if a tall man sits behind the wheel, he will be uncomfortable in a "squeezed" state. At the same time, the passive safety of the car has been increased, shock-absorbing inserts have appeared in the front doors and in the dashboard, which are quite organically integrated into the design.
Power point
The Lada Priora engine is a VAZ-21104 1.6-liter, 98-liter power unit that has been repeatedly tested and tested. from. with four gas valves per cylinder. Alternatively, a 21128 engine (1.8 liter, 120 hp) can be installed, but this can only happen as part of the Lada Priora tuning by the Italian company Super Auto. Separately, it must be said that for the specified engine there was an attempt to improve the gas distribution mechanism by using a timing belt and a tension roller by Federal Mogul with a guarantee of a resource of 200 thousand kilometers for these parts. Nobody believes in such a resource, including the company itself, but they made a replacement, which they soon regretted.
Front suspension
The gearbox is 5-speed, with a reinforced clutch mechanism oriented to a torque of 145 Nm. The gearbox uses sealed bearings with increased service life. The vacuum booster of the latest modification allows you to significantly reduce the force when you press the brake pedal and increases the efficiency of the entire brake system of the car. The front suspension is verified by the completeness of coil springs and shock absorbers, selected in the optimal combination. The shape of the spirals used was changed in a rather radical way - from cylindrical springs turned into barrel-shaped, but the effect of this metamorphosis has not yet been manifested. Nevertheless, despite the fact that the approach to the issue was almost scientific and experimental, an impressive result was nevertheless obtained, the progress of the car became soft and smooth. The anti-roll bars of the front suspension also played a role.
Rear suspension
The rear suspension is equipped with reinforced springs, which, coupled with hydraulic shock absorbers, give stability and stability to the entire pendulum structure, thereby ensuring good vehicle handling. As a result of a successful balance of the entire Lada Priora chassis, the clearance of which in the value of 145 mm suggested the development of dynamics, was able to achieve high speed performance. On the highway, the maximum speed of the car is over 180 km / h. The Priora VAZ accelerates to 100 km / h in 11 seconds, which is a good result for a car of this class. The 2 emission of the model is minimal due to the use of a magnetically striction-based catalyst, which reduces the 2 content in the exhaust to Euro-3 and Euro-4 standards.

"Lada Priora" is sold in the standard "standard" package, which includes: an airbag for the driver, electric power steering, central locking with a remote signal, a steering column with height adjustment, an electric two-position drive on the front door windows, an on-board computer, a program immobilizer, electronic clock, rear seat head restraints, rear seat back with armrests, headlight range control.
VAZ "Priora" is equipped with a modern heating and ventilation system that allows you to maintain a given microclimate in the cabin, as well as providing instant fogging of the windows. Although fogging is extremely rare, since all the windows in the car are athermal, and the rear is electrically heated. Active safety in the “norm” configuration is not provided, the ABS system is installed on the car in the luxury configuration (since 2008). The same can be said for the automatic distribution of braking forces - the EBD system. Ground clearance, on which much depends
"Lada Priora", technical characteristics, clearance, wheelbase, the length and width of which were balanced in the best way, began to be in steady demand. At the same time, in 2008, simultaneously with the “Lux” package, a modification of the Lada Priora hatchback appeared, the ground clearance of which was underestimated to 145 mm. Much depends on the ride height . Therefore, the clearance of the Priora hatchback was calculated under the standard load of this type of body. Based on the full load for a hatchback type vehicle, 145-155 mm of ground clearance is sufficient. The clearance of the Priora station wagon required different values, since the carrying capacity of a car with such a body is much higher than that of ordinary passenger cars. And when the trunk and the rear of the cabin are loaded to the maximum, then the entire chassis sags. Therefore, the model "Lada Priora" station wagon, the clearance of which required a high landing, received a ground clearance of 165 mm. The situation is different with the clearance of cars with a sedan, as this is the most common type of body. Ground clearance "Priora" sedan is calculated according to the general standard for passenger cars. From the most protruding point under the bottom of the car (usually the muffler body) to the roadway, the distance should be at least 135 cm. For most AvtoVAZ models, the ground clearance is 165 mm, and for Lada Priora an increase in clearance is not required.
Anticorrosive materials
Slightly more than half of all body parts for Priora are made of galvanized and anodized metal, low alloy grades. And the parts most susceptible to corrosion - wheel arches, body floor, sills - are made of galvanized steel using hot-coating technology. High anticorrosiveness of the Lada Priora body is supported by high-quality painting using a multi-layer primer.
