Loud music and the reaction of drivers and people around it

So, the topic is quite interesting, since cars have become an integral part of our lives, and almost every citizen who drives his car listens to his favorite music from various media or radio. The question is at what volume can listen to music so that it does not interfere with driving.

Perhaps it is no secret that listening to music at high volume reduces a personโ€™s attention to what is happening around, therefore, this can lead to a traffic accident. This conclusion was made by the faculty from Canada, studying this topic. He said that when listening to music at a very high volume, time is spent on physical as well as mental activity 20 percent more. Also, according to Edmund King, one can understand that a high volume level of music is not only an inconvenience for others, but also a mortal danger!

Naturally, in order not to be unfounded, Canadian scientists conducted a series of experiments and studies on volunteers. They asked their experimental โ€œrabbitsโ€ to perform various actions, accompanied by music with gradually increasing volume. We started at fifty-three decibels (the usual noise in the office), stopped at ninety-five decibels (a hum comparable to the work of an oil rig). Such experiments showed that with an increase in the sound level, the subjects' attention falls in direct proportion. With the gamma approach to ninety-five decibels, the reaction fell by twenty percent in urgent cases requiring an immediate solution.

In addition to all this, according to scientists, the possibility of an accident also increases because the driver prefers aggressive music to quiet compositions.

Conrad King, a psychologist and consultant for the British Royal Automobile Club RAC, expressed his opinion in which he should pay attention to the choice of music that you listen to while driving, since the speed, rhythm and genre of the song you listen directly affect the possibility of a traffic accident . King's quote: "... it's all about beats per minute." This is explained as follows: music in excess of sixty beats per minute, whether it be jazz, funk, rock, Electonic music , hip-hop, blues, classical, rap or something else, causes the listener to have an increased heartbeat, increases blood pressure, resulting in aggressive riding and an increased risk of accidents.

Note, in Greece, road inspectors give drivers recordings of folk music, believing that it helps to prevent at least a small number of road traffic accidents.

Also, the English organization GEM Motoring Assist claims that listening to some songs and music adversely affects the road environment. This association of motorists, in turn, conducted a series of experiments with a related topic. As a result, experience showed that when listening to slow and calm songs, the driver drove the car in the same way as without music. But as soon as the song changed to a faster one, the driver began to pay less attention to the environment on the road; inexperienced young drivers turned on the gears at the wrong time, were constantly confused and behaved differently from what the situation requires.

Conclusion: loud, fast and aggressive music makes the driver more inattentive, more abrupt, causes a nervous state, a desire to drive faster, overtaking everyone around. Statistics also show that people listen to music with a fast pace louder than with a calm one.

I would like to believe that, after reading this article, many motorists will draw the right conclusions for themselves and pay attention to the choice of music for cars. Whatever driver you are: an experienced, novice, woman, elderly person, you are primarily a person, and music affects you just like those people who were experimented with.

Imagine how many disasters, accidents, and just ordinary minor accidents that happen in the hundreds of thousands every day around the world could be prevented if these people were a little more attentive and careful, making the music a few decibels smaller. Of course, music is not the main cause of road accidents, it is only part of the totality of reasons due to which accidents occur. But removing one small detail can affect the whole situation as a whole.

Be careful, friends, listen to your favorite music at an acceptable volume with a moderate rhythm and be more careful when driving a car. Good luck on the road.
