Do-it-yourself replacement of the fuel filter on the Priore

In our small guide you will learn how to independently replace the fuel filter on the Priora. This must be done in a timely manner, otherwise clogging may occur in the fuel line. Please note that two filters are installed in the car at once - coarse and fine cleaning. The first is located directly in the tank, designed to get rid of large particles. But at the bottom of the car there is a filter for fine cleaning, which we will talk about. It relieves gasoline of small impurities, which, when ingested in nozzles and cylinders, can cause damage to elements.

When do I need to change the filter?

When replacing the fuel filter on the "Prior" you need to follow all the rules, otherwise you can only make it worse. There is a filter between the tank and the nozzles, it must be changed when the mileage of 15-20 thousand km is reached. But judging by the documentation for the car, it is allowed to increase mileage to 30 thousand km.

But it also happens that the filter fails prematurely, usually for the following reasons:

1. Refueling low quality.
2. Poor car operating conditions.
3. Aggressive driving style.

It also happens that the filter changes even more often. A clear sign that it needs to be replaced is the movement of the car in jerks. As a rule, this begins to appear at high speeds, but if the filter is very clogged, then at low.

A little bit about choosing a new filter

Depending on the year of manufacture of the car, a different design of the filter element is used. In order not to make a mistake, you need to look at what specific element is on your Prior. The differences in them are primarily in the method of connecting gasoline tubes. Near the fuel tank, not far from the suspension, is the desired filter. It is attached to the tank with a metal clamp. You need to purchase exactly the same item.

Fuel filters have proven themselves to be good at Priora, manufactured by companies such as MANN and KNECHT. As a rule, an element with plastic connecting fittings is installed on the car. Somewhat less common are filters with a threaded connection.

What do you need for work?

To independently replace the fuel filter with the Priore, you will need to acquire the following tools and materials:

1. Carob type keys on “10”, “12”, may also be needed on “17” and “19”.
2. Metal brush.
3. Penetrating grease type WD-40.
4. A small canister to drain fuel into it.

Replacement Preparatory Work

Before replacing the fuel filter on the Lada Priore, you need to carry out several manipulations aimed at preparing. First, one of the methods requires decompression (depressurization of the system):

1. Wait 3-5 hours, during which time the pressure will relieve itself. But, of course, this is not always possible.
2. Locate the fuse in the fuel pump protection circuit. Remove it and start the engine. The engine will stall itself, since gas will no longer be supplied to the ramp under pressure. It remains only to turn off the ignition and begin work.
3. Disconnect the wires from the fuel pump, to do this, you need to raise the back seat. As in the previous case, start the engine and let it run to a complete stop.

Replacement algorithm

All work is carried out according to such a simple scheme:

1. First, clean all filter mounts and pipe connections with a metal brush. It is also advisable to apply penetrating lubricant to them after that.
2. Drain the remaining gasoline into the container.
3. Remove the fuel pipe fittings.
4. Unscrew the fastener for the filter element housing.
5. Install the new filter in the reverse order. Pay attention to the arrow, which is located on the body of the element. It should be directed from the tank to the engine.

Now you can connect the tubes and check the engine. Just remember to put the fuse or power wires in place. As you can see, replacing the fuel filter on the Priora is a matter of just ten minutes. And even a novice driver can execute it.
